The olive garden on their terrain is huge, but was there for long before they vame to live there. The olive tree is originally from Palestine and the eastern part of the Mediterranean. Since 600 BC, the tree has spread to European countries such as Greece and Italy. In the garden at my parents in Italy there we have one olive tree and its gorgeous.

Nowadays, many olives are grown in continents such as Australia, South America and China. There are around 80 different types of olive trees. Olive oil is extracted from the kernel and flesh.

Olives protect us against various diseases of the heart and blood vessels. For example, they work against high blood pressure and eating olives would reduce the risk of brain disorders and heart disease. In addition, olives promote the liver function and reduce the risk of rheumatism. Although thats know common knowledge.

You can buy olive trees ready-made in the store and by their appearance are an asset to your garden. You can plant the tree in a tub or in the open ground. Choose a place in the garden where the olive tree catches a lot of sun. A sandy clay soil that is permeable to water and calcareous is preferred. If you plant the tree in a tub, put some clay granules at the bottom and make some holes at the bottom of the tub so that the excess water is absorbed by the granules or can drain away. This prevents root rot. In the winter you don't actually have to water the olive tree, but make sure it does not dry out. I know they are also alot of people who own a n olive tree that protect the tree with a piece of bubbly plastic around them against the cold winter weather. Olive trees are not sensitive to frost, yet it is advisable to pack the younger trees in December and January. Put some straw on the floor or use another cover that lets in moisture and light, for a better harvest the next year.

In the spring you can prune the longest branches of the tree, but this is not necessary. You also fertilize the tree then. In the summer the olive tree regularly needs water to prevent it from drying out. With the chopped branches you can make a table piece, i have one now, with olive branches from the flowershop in Town.

After about five years you can harvest the olives on the now beautiful tree. And in Corinaldo there are so many trees. It takes a few days to shook all the olives from the trees. Olives are widely used in Greek and Italian cuisine, among others. Add olives to your heart's content to cold or warm salads with meat or fish. Even sliced on a pizza or a paste, the taste of olives comes into its own. They also taste great in a savory pie or on a nice fresh sandwich. And for example at a party as a snack. Fill olives with feta, mozzarella, tuna or, for example, bell pepper. I prfer the ones files with garlic.

If you want to keep olives for as long as possible, put them in a clean pot and add olive oil. This way you can keep the olives in the fridge for up to 10 days. Olives (without oil) stay in the freezer for up to 3 months, although i never did this before i buy them and within the week they are gone. That the olive is green or black is not a matter of type but of The time of harvesting determines whether an olive is green or black. Unripe olives are green, ripe olives are dark brown or black. Depending on your taste, you determine the harvest time.

Do you want to put an original snack on the table? Beat some eggs in a bowl. Roll olives through some flour, then put them in the beaten eggs and then again in some breadcrumbs. Put them in the fridge for two hours and then fry the olives briefly in some oil or frying fat. Very original and they taste different too. So if you want to make an impression!

From the area where my parents stay i have a bottle too and believe it or not the taste is somewhat softer. Maybe because its beside a lake instandhouding of the sea..... I dont know why but i use them both in the salads and with my cooking.

Joey is watching the cubbord because there is also dogfood.

The harvest of the olives is mostly done with Harvestingnets.

The olives are harvested on nets. An olive net often has large dimensions. Eight meters by four but also ten meters by five is very common. The nets have small holes and are made of sturdy material. The net is laid in such a way that the area where the olives fall is covered. Around or first on 1 side with a very large olive tree. If the net is positioned correctly and the corners are weighted (for possible gusts of wind), then it is possible to rake or work with the shaker. The olives fall on the net. And can be processed.
