"Zygocactus and BEE-VINE"
Afternoon steemers,
This evening I share with you three completely different types of plants, all from different locations. The first plants common name is "Zygocactus" and comes in a few different varieties. In winter this plant flowers because of the shorter daylight hours.
Schlumbergera truncata (Zygocactus or Christmas Bush) grows fine in a pot and always puts on a show this time of year.
This next plant is known as a bit of a weed here in Brisbane but I think its worth keeping around due to how much the BEES love it! Its common name is even BEE-VINE :-)
Antigonon leptopus (Bee vine or Mexican Creeper) is from Mexico and Bees absolutely love it as the common names suggest.
Beautiful flowers also!
Staying with the floral theme of this blog but rather than a potted plant or a vine this one is a tree. I have never know it to have a common name but is simply known by its Genus Tibouchina.
Tibouchina sp.
I believe this tree originates in South America but it thrives in Australia's harsh conditions.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look into what a Gardener in Brisbane, Australia runs into on a daily basis.
Happy gardening,
Sam.
Today is pink flower day!
I'm not sure what that means........
Just an observation on the common element of the flowers, although the last one is a little more on the purple side
Being slightly colour blind you could have convinced me they are all pink haha
That must make gardens look quite trippy
I would assume more dull but trippy sounds better!
:-)
