Outdoors 16-05-2018 Pests.
Finished covering up the composter with black plastic. This should keep everything nice and dry and give it a boost with reaching the high temp required.
The currant is loaded with really nice clusters.
And now ... for the bad stuff. I will need to go to war again. Pests are showing up...
For the last few days I've been removing lots of caterpillars from one of my gooseberry plants. These buggers keep coming back. The other plant is not affected at all; that one is a thornier variety, dunno if that makes any difference.
The cherry tree seems to be favoured by snails. I don't mind them so much, there's a couple on each morning - the weird thing is they are always in the same spot; at least that makes it easy.
But the bad thing is that the cherry also has these annoying things now. Some sort of black aphids.
And on one of the larger currants which was surprisingly clear of any issues until now I've found these critters.
Oh well... guess it's time to get the soapy water spray bottle out again. That should get rid of most of the baddies.
Cheers
That black plastic should fire up your compost!
Yep! Had a look earlier and it was toasty in there!
