Cactus and Succulents Exhibition in Cyprus - Part 7 Astrophytum
Today I will publish photos from the exhibition of cacti and succulents, Astrophytum cactus.
I really like this cactus in spite of the fact that I consider it moody in cultivation.
Astrophytum tolerates heat well, but poorly tolerates direct sunlight.
But my Astrophytums are in direct sunlight even on the hottest days of summer.
Nevertheless, they bloom, and it seems to me that they do not complain.
They write that Astrophytum reproduces only by seeds.
But I saw Astrophytums on which children grew up, and there were several of them.
Astrophytums come with long curved or straight thorns and are completely naked.
Astrophytum blooms from an early age. The flowers are large, yellow or with a red center. Flowering lasts two to three days.
Some Astrophytum flowers have a very pleasant aroma.
It is necessary to water Astrophytum very carefully.
In winter, this is a period of rest, it is practically not watered. It depends on climatic conditions.
I water, since in winter we do not have very low temperatures.
