WHAT ARE YOU GROWING?

in #gardening5 years ago

Times like this make we want to get one of my greenhouses set up already.

In preparation for sping planting, we are starting a lot of seedlings. We've still got plenty more to get ready, but thus far we are off to a good start. It all started back when we were germination tests in December to get ready to open our online store at the Homesteaders Co-op.

Anyway, below is a list of some of what we've got growing in our seedling trays. I was wondering what everyone else is starting this year. Please leave a reply with what you are starting in the comment section below.

CUTTINGS & SEEDLINGS WE ARE STARTING

  • Dwarf Moringa
  • Elderberry

Until next time…

What am I growing this year. Still trying to deside. I live in WIS growing zone 5a. I have a list of 44+ perannials, and 33+ cold weather plants (some can self sowing). Then 5+ warm weather (got to have those tomatoes and peppers). I say "+" becouse of the different varieties of each plant.

Nice! I love a good, beneficial perennial!

After some heavy rains in January I planted the following:
Ginger
Turmeric
Garlic
Dwarf pawpaw
Water leaf

Later I'll plant some yams and potatoes.

Dwarf pawpaw. That sounds ineresting.

Wow, very cool! Love ginger, turmeric, and garlic. We've got some young Paw Paws starting, but I've never heard of a dwarf paw paw. Very cool!

There loads of things you have listed that I find very interesting but the one the tickles my fancy most are Ghost Peppers and Rabbit Tobacco. As regards the Dwarf Pawpaw, I have done some post about them as you can see:

Nice! I'll upvote that to help you along!

I'm with this guy, I'm growing my Steemit account too! Besides that we are waiting to get through the cold weather before starting anything. By Spring we should have something planted.

Thanks brother💛

Yesterday it was 21F and sunny so I went and sat in the greenhouse for a bit - it was nice and hot probably around 80. When it is cloudy it is not nearly as warm. Do you have any plans for heat storage for cloudy days?

I'm thinking about a geothermal greenhouse. Was contemplating a rocket mass heater in it too, but I'll probably at least use some black barrel water storage on the north side.

Wow, that is a plate full of seedlings... :-)

A couple plate actually, LOL. Soon, they'll be plates full of food hopefully!

Wow you have quite the list!

I'm growing indoors due to living in an apartment.
Lately I have been reading about the benefits of certain types of mushrooms. So I am growing some
Lion's Mane Mushrooms.

We are on week 2 and they are just starting to get their tendrils/mane.

I saw in one of your previous posts that you got some inoculated dowels for a log. (Oysters or shitake I believe..)

This was a kit I bought online. They are good for 2 flushes and the you use the substrate to inoculate a log.

Lions Mane are supposed to be good for your brain and mental clarity as well as being beneficial to your nervous system. Pretty cool.

Not time to start anything up here in IL where I am, I believe I can start in a couple more weeks!
