The birds beat me to my grapes but at least I still have all the leaves!

in #gardening6 years ago

The birds are really the bane of my grape growing experience. Most years they seam to beat me to them being just ripe. I though I was keeping a close eye and sampling them regularly to figure out when they were rip, but the birds preferred to wait till they were rip and just eat most of them.

I need to spend some more time really pruning and training the vines better as well. This year I built them a new support and they went totally wild! I have a huge dense wall of vines now.

The one thing that’s great about these vines is that I can actually eat the leaves! There are a few recipes that call for wrapping meats and rices in some grape leaves.

And I got some good massive ones!

Looking forward to trying it out!

Birds love grapes, yes you still have leaves. Looks like you would of had a lot of grapes too.
