The wave of peaches continues in the food forest! Over an month straight of peaches so far. This “mid season” elberta peach tree is our largest producer in the food forest! She’s almost 11 years old now....and still putting out heavy crops of sweet..orange fleshed peaches. We heavily prune this tree throughout the year. Last year we took four feet off the top of her....so she can fit snuggly on this corner of our urban lot. We share some of the crop with birds and as you can see in the images...green scarab beetles! June bugs! We also give away many of the peaches to share the abundance! Cheers to our food freedoms steepshot and steem blockchain!!!!

I make peach pie filling when there's a sale on peaches here. Not warm enough for peaches in our zone, tho they're trying to slowly make a peach tree good to grow in our colder zones. They just don't taste the same from the stores.

hi @tillysfamilyfarm !!!! i wish i was around during peach pie time of the year....around your place! that sounds amazing! good call...on the peach genetics. they are slowly closing the gap....on super hot climate zone peaches too. fascinating how they do that. almonds too. i totally agree. nothing....quite like a home grown peach!!!!! cheers my friend!

wow. so very jealous. they look delicious!

Thanks for your vote @rawutah. Do you preserve peaches? Pickled peaches are a family thanksgiving tradition. We have those giant green beetles here poking around our nectarine trees. They give grandma quite a fright!

hey @torrey.blog .....thank YOU....for dropping by and saying hello! mmmm....those pickled peaches...and the family tradition...sounds heavenly!!!! so does..the fact ya'll are growing nectarines! CHEERS!!!! Yes indeed! We preserve via pickling and other methods of fermentation. Our favorite way to ferment the peaches...is via liquid beverages like kombucha and mead. the honey mead/melomel...is ammmazing! Peach anything IMO is amazing though. ;) lol....oh man i feel you grandma so much! these buggers make me JUMP...when i reach for a peach and they buzz off...past my ear! They're crappy fliers eh? like b-52 bombers...of the flying insect world. friendly though :))
