This is a closeup view of the decorative top of a pedestal onto which a potted plant can be placed. It is made of concrete and shaped to mimic a column style of the Ionic order, thus called due to its origin in ancient Ionia on the western edge of Anatolia. The spiral pattern is called a volute and represents a scroll. This pedestal is only a couple of feet tall (0.6m) and in the garden of a family who lives nearby. More information about the Ionic order of architecture can be found in Wikipedia.

I would love to have some old school pedestal pillars in all corners of a garden, making it even more epic than just an awesome garden.

A very beautiful piece of architecture!

Such a lovely shot of something so simple.

That's interesting! I'm always amazed at how the sculptors envision their artwork and turn them into beautiful details. Thanks for sharing!
