Ulog # 8/11 🌺 SteemIt Community Garden Journal Challenge 4 - August My entry

@simplymike Has a garden challenge that I am entering. Here is the link to the entry with all the rules listed.

Here is the garden. As I have stated in other posts and comments I did not do a garden on my own this year but have collaborated with my neighbor. As you can see the garden is broken up into 2 sections. The soil is sandy and requires a lot of water and fertiliser. The corn you see there growing, are from a bag of popcorn that the kernels were planted from.

Mammoth Sunflowers border the whole west side. They also attracts bees. I took a picture of the whole row of sunflowers and it didn't come out. Except the north section.

Here are some of the peppers. Sarron and Garden Salsa perpers.

This is a watermelon patch of black diamond. If you can believe it there are only six plants there.

The garden consists of Okra, Horseradish, Green beans, Baby Boo Pumpkins, Onions and Tomatoes to list most of the items.

This sums up the garden. My neighbor deserves all the credit for her work here. It's an everyday job. They are good people who are always ready to give a helping hand. I picked some tomatoes, cucumbers for a salad and squash to accompany a meal early this afternoon. It is nice to have friends to share everyday things with.
I hope you enjoyed the small tour.

you have got one of the best garden... good luck

It is a nice garden and she puts a lot of work in it. I am trying to get them on steemit.

howdy sir Wolfhart! someone is working hard to keep that garden clear of weeds that's for sure! sunflowers remind me of the farm in Kansas, the forn though, you mean you just took popcorn from the kind you pop and put those in? darn good photos sir!

That what she used. She Has a hole jar of them lol. Plenty left over and cheaper than buying seeds

oh that's great Wolf, I didn't know that, I thought you had to buy them from the store in those packets. ha! pretty shrewd.

Yea that was. But makes sense. there corn kernels and been planted for thousands of years like that. One croup to the next. I had my doubts with all the generic engineering going on.

That garden looks really cool, @wolfhart. Great idea to share the work.
OMG, are there really only 6 watermelon plants over there? They are obviously doing very good - it looks like there's at least double that amount..

Only 6 there is about 6 mellons under the leeves. were having problems with bugs getting to the roots of the squash. It's all organic so not using any pesticides.
There was no way I could do my own this year. So I have my tiller and other things there.

There must be an organic way to get rid of those bugs... there is one for everything, lol.
Tonight, I'm going to (organic ) war against smider mite, that had affected quite a couple of my plants...

LOL give um hell
organic bomb them little buggers ✈

Woow nature is beautiful.
They look awesome @wolfhart

Yes it does. nice job on the garden and a lot of work went into it.

That's a huge garden, I'm very jealous. Sunflowers are on my list for next year. Maybe I will try watermelon, too. However, I will be heartbroken if they aren't big enough. So perhaps I can stick with horseradish or other root crops as I don't have to worry about my feelings until I pull them up and can just wait until I am in a good mood to try.

The watermelons take up a hugh area. we only planted 6 and we should have given them more room to spread

I really envy you and your neighbor's success.

As a "young" 55 y/o, I'm such a newbie to growing plants!

In my younger days, I actually killed a cactus AND a VERY EXPENSIVE Bonsai Tree (a gift from a Yakuza friend that was passed down through generations of his family!).

Lol!

Namaste, jaiChai

How do you kill a cactus. You only have to give it a teaspoon of water every 15 years LOL
Bonsai Tree oooh thats a shame. surprised you're not haunted by the past ghosts.
LOL

My "ingenius" self watering contraption broke and I drowned the cactus while I was deployed.

And believe you me, every time I try to grow something and it dies, I can feel the Bonsai ghosts lurking (and laughing) in background!

Lol!

Namaste, my friend.

JaiChai

Wooow!!! This is such a beautiful and bountiful garden! Such pretty sunflowers! All the best in the contest, looks like you stand a very good chance indeed!

LOL
I wanted to highlight the work in it That my neighbor has done. My part is trivial compared to hers. They are such good people

Well, they get appreciated through you! ;)

Yes they do that, and nice of you to say. Its been raining the last day and family is here. we spent the day inte city. I have not gone down there in a couple of days. When it stops raining I will.

It seems to be raining everywhere at the moment it seems. :) Are the results out yet?

Enjoy the family time :)

What a nice looking garden and so cool that it's a joint project...your neighbor doing all the work and you watching and eating :) Love the sunflowers too; I'm assuming your wife had a hand in that row:)

And are you saying that regular popcorn that you buy from the store? You planted those?

no kiddo they planted themselves.

haha @janton, I thought maybe Orville Redenbacher paid him a visit.

haha! that's even funnier than my snarky smartass comment! you're good lynncoyle.

Thanks buddy! I've got a few zingers up my sleeve 😎

you're full of something alright.
hey, that hilarious page that ecoin set up about my chair, did you see it?
https://steemit.com/en/@ecoinstant/qlnba4npx

oh man that's funny but what do I do, should I resteem it? I mean it's about me but it's his humor and me getting beat! lol.

haha I did just read it :) Hiliarious! Yes, resteem it :)

EDIT: another one! I wrote the top part here last night but just happened to see it un-posted right now!

ok! how does that happen by the way? it's not you is it? lol.

.your neighbor doing all the work and you watching and eating

WOW WOW hold them Tacos
I do things like , hay needs some more weeding, that needs more water. That looks good. nice job here. nice job there
So my plate is pretty full. Its not easy being a supervisor or everyone would be able to do it :) 🌻 😎

And are you saying that regular popcorn that you buy from the store? You planted those?

yea. (unpoped) bag jar however they come. not the microwave kind the regular

No the sunflowers were all my neighbors. They will make sunflower seeds out of them

Cheerleading is a job too I guess 😎

I should know that about corn, but for some reason I didn't put two and two together with that one!

Just like a tomato. squish it and spread the seed they have. I didn't think the corn would work but it did. learn something everyday.

shit I comment myself too. its @tryskele fault she made me do it LOL

oops just saw this @wolfhart; do you still need me to do that?

Yea thats the English, History teacher in me ROFL

Crap I just voted for myself. At least I didn't comment myself too

hahaha you the English teacher

... and the self-vote lol

yea if you look up a couple you can see where I commented myself to

Did I tell you I was also a computer guy also :)

Ya it is nice that your group of friends do such a good job. Have a good one.
