Recently we had a couple visit our store. They were interested in going out to hunt for Pecos Valley Diamonds.

These are some of the double terminated crystals they found.

Pecos Valley diamonds (PVDs) are quartz crystal clusters and single crystals that are found here in the Pecos Valley region of NM. That region stretches from south of Carlsbad NM to north of Vaughn NM.

Most cities or towns that have a large deposit of quartz will call them their diamonds. the most widely known are the Herkimer Diamonds from Herkimer NY

Anyway, the couple was so excited with their finds that they had to share them with us, as well as send a thank you note.
"Hello my name is Madison and my boyfriend (Tylor) and I traveled from Oklahoma and visited your shop and you told us about Pecos diamonds. We just wanted to say thank you and share with you our finds."

They also found other interesting specimens along their journey

These include hematite, hornblend, agates, feldspar, and gypsum. All natives of Southeastern NM.

Very cool
