hidden place in Ao Nang, Krabi

I say that it is hidden because it is extremely unlikely that you find it seeing as how the owner doesn't really care if anyone knows he is in operation at all. I might be over-extending the bounds of our friendship by putting this out there but I did ask him before I took the photos.

If you want to travel to a wonderful beach but don't want to stay in a traditional hotel this might be the place for you.

This place is called Funky Mango and the name has been around for a long time in Ao Nang Krabi, but it has changed hands many times over the time that I have been here. At the moment it is in the hands of a Kiwi and this guy is just a legend. He is the president of the local chapter of a Motorcycle Club and also has a few room for rent inside of his place that is just a km. from the beach.

I love bikes, but you don't really need to in order to want to stay here (although it would certainly enhance your stay if you do.) The boys at Funky Mango are just as happy to house a bike enthusiast as they are someone who doesn't know anything about them.

If you want to stay near Ao Nang beach and not pay a fortune, staying at Funky Mango might be an experience that you simply cant find online and let me tell you why: For the most part these guys do not advertise online because they aren't looking for customers. Does that sound strange to you? It would to me.

Basically if you turn up there it is because you have been told by a person inside of a group that "this is the place to go.."

It is truly a hidden secret because if you do a search for it online, you are not going to find it and that is perfectly fine with the owner. Here is your secret connection right here.

if you book with these guys i promise you will not be disappointed. You will stay with genuine people who are really nice and have been friends of mine for years at a fraction of a price of the hotel that is next door. The reason for this is simple: These guys are not trying to make money! They just want to have good time with good people and they try to make people work in order to find them.

While this might seem strange I want you to understand that the expat life overseas is one of trying to have fun. If you manage to stay with these guys well, you are already half way there.

This sounds great and quite intriguing!
I am a bit confuse by your sentence “these guys are trying to make money!”
Is this what you really mean?!

I think I want to try this out one day! Having a small home stay without advertising online!

Cheers.

Thanks for catching that mistake. It is funny how missing one word can completely change the meaning :) I have edited it now :)

Oh! Please don’t mention it. Your posts have given me much pleasure by reminding me of the fun I used to have watching my favorite films.
You are truly prolific in your production!

Cheers.

Hi gooddream. It does sound strange, but I kind of understand it. They don't just want anyone staying there, but like minded people it seems.Really convenient and so close to the beach.
