Freud and the Oedipus Complex /part 8/

in #godflesh6 years ago (edited)

Freud approached the problem of the Oedipus complex not historically, but structurally, he said he took the point of view of the boy and the virgin at second thought about the girl. He now adds a third phase - to the oral, which corresponds to the loss of the anal anal loss - the loss of the stools (lived as a particle of his own body) now the pledge is the phallus which, beyond the genital organ, the penis becomes the identification axis for the construction of your own body after the loss (and castration) experienced so far - oral and anal. Thus, the phallic phase is organized around the threat of castration that the child has already experienced - the final weaning of the breast and the excretion of stools. Fear of duplication is also the negation of the flesh as a place for a possible identity and gives access to the achievement of another mental identity. The Oedipus complex shows the places the boy can occupy or should leave, so it completes the identification - it gives him two possibilities for satisfaction, active and passive. He can stand in the father's place and have a relationship with his mother, then the father feels like an obstacle. Or maybe you put yourself in the mother's place and ask for the father's love, then the mother becomes redundant. In both cases, it is of course an imaginary, hysterical position where the identification process is linked to the filling process.

Exiting the Oedipus complex is the moment when the maddening identity / filling (identifying with this or those that fill) ceases at the expense of an identification process where the child disinvests the images of the parents for a great X that will be his own future: "When I grew up I will be, I will do what I am, etc. "In short, the Oedipus complex is a task for every one that imposes its culture but also a source of every neurosis:" The infantile choice of object is a weak but guiding prelude to the choice of object pre Here there are very intense emotions in the direction of the Oedipus complex or in response to it, which, however, largely do not reach the consciousness because their reasons have become inadmissible. From that point on, the human individual has to deal with the important task of breaking away from his parents and only after he has resolved it, he will cease to be a child and become a member of society. For the son, the task is to break the libidinal wishes of the mother and use them to choose another real love object to reconcile with the father if he is hostile to him or free himself from his power if, reaction to the infantile revolt has fallen depending on it. Each person is confronted with these tasks, and it should be borne in mind that they are very rarely found to be an ideal, psychological and socially correct solution. Neurotics, however, their solution is not at all possible, the son for life remains subordinate to fatherly authority and is unable to transfer his libido to another sexual object. The same with the corresponding changes may be the fate of the daughter. In this sense, the Oedipus complex is rightly considered to be the nucleus of neuroses.
