The left hemisphere specializes in integrative functions such as verbal intelligence: performing mental, logical and numerical operations, analytical and critical thinking, based on causal relationships, and so on. The right hemisphere is related to the perception of spatial ratios, imagination, musical abilities and intuitive activities. The right hemisphere is better for performing complex tasks between vision and spatial sensation. The questions that are asked are whether there is a genetic or biological basis for functional brain asymmetry; it can be an indicator of lateralisation of the language that the leading right hand speaks of the left brain as a priority and vice versa;
There are three non-invasive methods for research, and these are:
- dychotic listening - a methodology introduced by Kimura;
- visual modality methodology - tachystoscopic bilateral examination where the priority of the respective brain hemisphere can be assessed;
- Dychaphic Methodology - A method in tactile modality, taken by the Australian Wittelson. The invasive methodologies are as follows:
- sample of Valle - not done in Bulgaria;
- one-sided electric shock - only with strict indication;
- cosmysrhoμic patients - cutting of the body.
The current opinion on functional brain asymmetry is that: the left hemisphere's strategy is analytical; the strategy of the right is globalism. This type of strategy is determined by psychological tests for research - conflict incentives - modern technology, and these are: - the psychologists - introduced by Navon; - Strup effect; - formative conflict incentives; - tests with meaningless incentives. Every person reflects reality in a unique and peculiar way. In different people, consciousness acts differently, but among the many individual differences in human psychology there are also typical features. Some individuals turn their attention to objects and people from the outside environment, others to their own, secluded, inner world. The first prefer the noisy, cheerful companies, various contacts, communicating with new people, and other peaceful quiet evenings spent at home with a book in hand or gentle relaxing music. These two extremes in character have attracted scientists as early as the 17th century. In their writings, they refer to one extreme as: turning thoughts into the outside world, the objects; and the other to turning thoughts into the mind, the soul, or the spiritual reality. This is how the concepts of extraversion and introversion come from the Latin extra - outside, intro - inside, versere - direct, revert.
The focus of psychologists' attention on this subject is to a great extent contributed by the Swiss psychologist C.G. Jung, which reduces the orientations to two types of biological attitudes that underlie the theory of psychological types. When the orientation to the objects and the objective facts is so dominant that most and most important decisions and actions are determined by objective relations, the attitude is extravagant, and if it is sustainable and lasting it is an extraterrestrial type, when a person lives in accordance with the objective conditions and their requirements, he is an extravagant. In his consciousness, the role of determinative factor plays objective value. His interest and attention follow the objective events, his actions are governed by the influence of people and the things that are related to objective data and limitations. Individuals with predominant extravertebral attitude actively interact with the environment. The intensity of their contacts creates the conditions for maximum objectivity. They have a good reproduction function, they handle precise concepts. They have an emphasized analytic-synthesizing ability, accurately reflect the laws and are able to move their thoughts inductively from the concrete to the common.
