About Dante and his "Divine comedy" / part 2/

in #godflesh6 years ago (edited)

Dante's wanderings, which are traced to the Divine Comedy, are actually a fabulous and fantastic transposition of the poetic activity that every man has in himself: the lived activity of thought and love, which in the act of knowledge and love are perfected to lift the intellect to the contemplation of God. In fact, the goal pursued by Dante is to explore God - the highest and everlasting bliss. God is simultaneously, inseparably personal and transcendental: it is the one that exists for himself because he is actually his own kindness, truth and beauty.

In "Hell", God is presented as the bearer of justice, and in the "Purgatory" he gives out his mercy. In the supernatural order, the possession of God's mercy and generosity, God appears in his own essence, as a worthy object of love. The perception of God in the life experience of Dante is the basis of his activity. The author of "Divine Comedy" achieves self-confidence thanks to his highly developed intellect and strong will. Through this achievement, the poet manages to become more involved with the real life of the spirit. By requiring a continuous ascetic of intellect and soul, the poet gradually realizes the deep essence of moral philosophy, masters science relying on the motives of human action, conceives freedom through Vergilius and God's and human wisdom thanks to the Scripture, whose secrets reveal to him Matilda. Finally, as a natural consequence of his spiritual elevation, ending in the bosom of divine light, Dante perceives the Christian wisdom of the saints with the help of Beatrice and the wisdom of the mystic, thanks to St. Bernard. Yet God can not be known in his true nature, but by analogy, through a created form that is not He. It is possible only the actual and concrete acquaintance, the acquaintance through the poetry of this mystery, which from the deepest deep gives life to the whole creation and fills all the things and the spirit of their hidden life with trembling.

"The Divine Comedy" is a harmonious synthesis of views of life and poetry, in which man Dante gives expression to his soul-living aspirations of a believer, a moralizer and a creator. He assumes that created nature is an unsupported metaphysical territory that is populated by analogies and similarities. As an author, Dante is at the center of the fantasy world that reflects the harmonies and proportions of the real world that is perceived by the poet as a creation of art. The analogies that connect Dante's poetic world with the world created by God are purely spiritual, although they are at different intellectual levels. According to J.Burkhart, "the composition and basic design of" Divine Comedy "fall into the Middle Ages and speak to our consciousness only historically; but the poem marks the beginning of every modern poetry, mostly because of the richness and the extreme plastic power in the description of the spiritual in all its manifestations and in every transformation .

Dante wonderfully colorfully and realistically described hell and its inhabitants. Many of the author's contemporaries said that he personally went and visited the Underworld and that is why he was able to describe so accurately the heat, torment and horror that is happening there.
A realistic description of torture is so addictive that at some point you begin to see yourself among sinners. Detailed descriptions in every circle of all punishments are fascinating and frightening. Still contemporaries of the author drew maps of hell, clearly showing the fall of people. In some editions of the Divine Comedy, you can find many illustrations that clearly show the horror of the 9 circles of Hell.
Dante is a genius who has revealed all human vices. Everyone is waiting for a punishment commensurate with his crimes. And how was Dante right when he placed traitors in the very last round of Hell. After all, if you think about it, the most terrible thing a person can do is betrayal of those who believe in your heart. Deceive confidence, make a person suffer, destroy faith, always ask questions and find no answer.
After reading, somewhere in the depths of your soul you begin to believe that there is justice, even after death.
