And "such is the power and majesty of the Divine, that it sees everything and listens, is present everywhere at the same time and takes care of everything at the same time". And Minucius Felix, the author of the first Christian apology written in Latin, commented on the aspirations of ancient Greek thinkers towards a more exalted and perfect concept of God, notes Plato: "So in Timaeus Plato speaks that God in Himself His name is Father of the whole world, Creator of the soul, Creator of heaven and earth ".

If a person contains something divine in himself, then his external destiny can not be anything accidental, however divine and reasonable in him. The very conditions and the external image of the occasional circumstances that make up our destiny must be placed in a reasonable whole (which is unthinkable without allowing Promise, the Higher Divine Reason). This must be in the mind of every thinker who recognizes the unconditional dignity of the human person, just as any believing person. This is the result the practical religiosity of Socrates - the ministry in his recognition and vocation. He was convinced that a believer in the Divine Providence would never be abandoned by his instructions; he finds them in himself and in external phenomena.

Not the birds, not the sacrifices of the victims, preach us anything, but the Divine Providence through them reveals our secret will. His personal words and the testimony of his disciples, Socrates had a special spiritual gift, "something divine", a sort of "sign", an inner voice he heard from his very early childhood and to his death, appearing in visions. This voice kept him from doing many acts, and not only acts, morally condemning, but also morally indifferent . To many of his relatives and friends, Socrates gave advice, even on their life affairs, based precisely on this inner voice. His disciples believed him and, in the words of Xenophon, the fulfillment of his counsels always helped them, and disobedience - harm. There is a great deal of literature about this divine testimony. Neoplatons saw in it the action of a special "demon". In a more recent time, some saw hallucination, others a phenomenon of a particular medium, and finally, third, they recognized Socrates' "internal voice" as a mere allegory, with which the philosopher ironically concealed his sound sense. But these explanations are not satisfactory.
