I don't believe there is a person who has read some of the works of Russian literature and has not been impressed by the mastership of Russian writers. Russian literature is filled with examples of reality, it teaches us how to live, and even makes us more spiritual. One of the greatest writers, not only in Russian but also in the world literature, is F. Dostoevsky. Dostoevsky's literary work explores the human psyche in the worrying political, social and spiritual conditions of Russian society in the 19th century. Dostoevsky is often referred to as one of the most important psychologists in the history of world literature.

One of Dostoevsky's greatest novels is "Crime and Punishment." Dostoevsky began writing Crime and Punishment in the summer of 1865. He himself is in a severe financial situation due to his passion for gambling and his willingness to help of the family of his brother Michael, who died in 1864. Dostoevsky owed a large sum of money to various creditors, signing a contract for writing a novel, with editor Katsov, explaining his idea of writing a novel about a young man who had killed a cold-blooded moneylender later trying to flee, justifying his actions, but ultimately shares the crime. At first glance, the design of novel seems even a little boring. The title of the novel seems to be trite, quite ordinary. Crime and Punishment - the first thoughts that invade the consciousness of each and every one of us speak of a person committing a crime and consequently of a subsequent punishment. But reading the novel, we understand that this is not the case. Dostoevsky very skillfully described the sentiment of the protagonist Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, a ruined St Petersburg student who deliberately kills unscrupulous money for her money and unintentionally her younger sister. But does it solve your financial problems? Is everything allowed to man, is his inner god dead? I will look for answers to these questions. Dostoevsky makes a very profound look of the human psyche. A novel that can enrich a man, a work in which he needs to be insightful, and the wisdom of the author.

This is a psychological novel that examines the impact of isolation and guilt on reason and conscience, as well as the need for sacrifice and redemption. Quite interesting are the names of the main characters, which are often played in words. Raskolnikov contains within himself the word "schism", which in religion means secession, this suggests the division of the protagonist's personality. The next character is Luzin - his name means "puddle", it is quite natural to associate it with something bad, muddy, dirty. Another character whose name impresses is Marmeladov, which means something sweet, sweet. We can immediately associate the name with his life. He lives quite loose and constantly drinks. Besides Raskolnikov's fate, the novel deals with a variety of topics, such as charity, family, atheism, alcoholism, crime, punishment, poverty, sacrifice. The story begins by revealing the lifestyle of the protagonist, he is lonely, melancholic, different from the others in his way of thinking. In the first three parts of the novel the hero is portrayed as a reasonable, rational person who is well aware of his actions. He begins to develop obsessively the superhuman theory. This is the idea that some people who, due to their superior intelligence and their possible contribution to humanity, are not obliged to obey some moral rules. Isaac Newton, for example, would be justified if he killed someone so that he could continue his case. Obsessed with the idea, Raskolnikov is becoming more and more convinced that he is from this category of people. To prove it to himself, he decides to kill the old lender. Indeed, the hero is plunged into poverty, but not his severe financial condition leads him to the crime (even does not take advantage of the stolen), and his desire to understand to which category he falls and, of course, his desire to belong to the "elected".
