Some thoughts about the psychodynamic theory of personality. /part 8/

A sensual / sensitive / person is good at listening and viewing and basically exploring the world. Jung calls it one of the irrational functions in the sense that it involves more perception than an evaluation of information. The second is thinking: rational, logical judgment of information or ideas. Jung calls it rational. The third is intuition: a type of perception that works outside of the usual conscious processes. The fourth is the feeling (for Jung she is rational). Each of us has these functions, but in different proportions. Most of us develop only one or two, but our goal must be to develop all four.

Alfred Adler (1870-1937) is of Jewish origin. He does not attach any importance to his life biography. There is a difficult childhood. He looks at his father, who has a great deal of support. He graduated in medicine and created a new approach to personality in psychoanalytic individual psychology. It leaves about 300 publications. The most prolific author. He traveled a lot to show and teach people how to educate their children. He died during a lecture tour. He is often presented as a student of Freud, opposes his teacher and creates his own concept. Unfortunately, the contradictions between the two scientists grow into hostile moods that do not change. Most of the concepts of individual psychology develop as an antithesis to Freud's theories.

Valuation is the most key concept of the Adler model. Man is born with a basic instinct to impose his own will. A major problem is the relationship of the individual with his or her environment. Because in this aspect the life destiny of each person is individual. Adler names his concept - Individual Psychology. A major source of neurotic disorders is inequality between people. Particularly important is inequality in terms of gender, social origin, appearance, religion, self-image. A positive positive base must be formed in the child towards itself. It must have support for the parents, trust in oneself must be formed. Once a sense of inferiority has developed and turned into an inferiority complex, it can not be removed or it becomes very difficult. Because people have a harmful instinct for power, they have a natural tendency to seek superiority over others and to protect themselves from their domination.

Everybody wants to dominate, but they are unequal. The instinct leads to the fact that, being in a more unfavorable situation, one begins to experience a strong sense of inferiority, which, if stabilized, becomes an inferiority complex. Unsatisfied instinct leads to the development of different compensation rules, which aim to counterbalance existing inequality. It is most common to overcome one's own weakness by offsetting the shortcomings in one area with achievements in another. The offset man's profile is heavily negative.
