Gold showing bullish signals

in #gold5 years ago (edited)

Setting aside the known fact that precious metals prices are heavily manipulated, it can still be useful to follow long-term price movements.

Since the market crash of 2013, gold has traded sideways between 1100 and 1400 USD, with a brief dip under 1100 to form the bottom at the end of 2015.

For the past couple years the price has been putting pressure on the upward side of the channel.

Gold currently looks like it wants to visit the upper 1300s. This of course will depend on economic/political announcements and large movements in other markets.

Could it break the 1400 level? It has held for years, and it'll hold right up until when it doesn't.

It feels like the sale is almost over.

I'm nobody's financial advisor, but these cheap levels for physical gold and silver would be very attractive to me if I was sitting on cash.

Steem Silver Gold

I was welcomed to the steemsilvergold community yesterday, in this post.

I since found out that it functions mainly as a "vote for vote" club, and you have to pay to play. I don't buy, sell, or trade votes. So I will have to decline the offer.

I also noticed that they operate a crypto buying pool, yet claim to be stackers. Every stacker knows: If you don't hold it, you don't own it, and that goes for cryptos too. Buying pools are rife with fraud and other problems. They are just smaller exchanges. NEVER keep your cryptos in an exchange, regardless of size. If you don't hold it, it's not yours.

Always nice to see gold doing well.
I wonder how a strong PM bull market would affect cryptos? It has been a while since they were both in play at the same time.

We may get a chance to find out. :)
I notice gold is up from the low-1300s to 1326 USD today. It appears to be consolidating and if it pushes upward to 1330 there could be a nice jump to 1350ish.
(Which puts my above prediction closer to playing out.)

I just started stacking in September. Don't have much but my silver already went up in value a bit.

Nice! What do you like to stack? I prefer bars under 10oz, and 1oz coins like Maples. But right now all I really have is a bunch of one of a kind coins and rounds gifted to be my viewers over the years. Had to sell off the weight when I was homeless and sick - saved my butt.

Heres my collection

Very nice! I love that poured bar. Are those gold steem rounds?

They're gold plated copper apparently. I found them on amazon for 20$ each.

I like copper a lot. The gold plating is nice I guess but doesn't make copper look much better than it already does. :D

Haha. I like that video.

I did silver porn videos (and got known for them) on YouTube for years. Copper was just the logical next step in that :P

That's cool, thanks for letting me know! I do try and put a little effort into each comment. Comments without any effort, for the most part, are spam (and shouldn't be added to the blockchain).
By the way, your upvote was actually worth something. Thank you!

Hello @drutter,

I just saw your post today (many days after the fact). I am here to ask you about your intention of not accepting the nomination to join Steem Silver Gold. I am one of the mods for the community and want to confirm your decision based on the last section of this post.

Are you still declining your nomination? If so, I will make sure our member list reflects your desire. ☺️ Thank you for the clarification either way.

@dfinney

Hey @dfinney. I don't actually know what nomination (or membership) entails.
I don't buy, sell, or trade upvotes on Steem. No upvote bots, no curation trails, no delegation, no vote partnerships, etc. I'm a simple content creator with a focus on monetary theory and precious metals. I'm on Steem to provide the content I create on a regular basis, and earn upvotes from other members. I've been educating people about silver and other physical monetary metals for over 10 years on YT, FB, and now Steemit.
If you think there's a way we can meet our mutual goals together, please let me know! If not, no hard feelings, and I wish you the best on your way.

Hi @drutter,

I saw fishyculture nominated you for membership and that seemed to be your first intro to the steemsilvergold community on steemit. At least in a formalized way. Your nomination was seconded and approved. So technically you are in. If you are interested in being in. ☺️

We are a random assortment of stackers, coin collectors and wannabe stackers/coin collectors who are all here on steem. Some folks are long time stackers, some are very new. We have a discord channel. Surprisingly most of the chit chat in discord isn’t Precious Metal related. It tends to be general banter.

We have a vote trail which all members benefit from. Some members have added their vote to this trail, some members delegate a small amount to the trail. This trail votes for all member’s posts whether they contribute to the trail or not. I personally delegate 10SP. The hope of course is that each member would contribute in some way, but it is not required. We also have a voting bot that is exclusive to members. Contributing to this bot is not required. Folks may choose to delegate or pay liquid steem for a tier. Each tier votes member posts at a percentage equal to their contribution.

Every few months we hold a raffle. During the raffle members donate silver or gold. We sell raffle tickets for steem or SBD to all of Steemit. The donators will ship their donation at their cost to the raffle winner anywhere in the world. We use the steem raised from the raffle to pay for leases to boost our vote bot. The event is fun. We hold it live on discord. It takes a couple of hours. People get silly and generally have a good time. Around Christmas we also have a secret santa silver exchange. Community members will host raffles during the year exclusive to Steem Silver Gold members.

For those that are interested, one of our members does a group crypto buy. I have never participated so don’t know all the details. Obviously being on steemit means people are loosely interested in crypto.

Participation in all of these activities are optional. However, our community is of a decent size and it seems the same people participate a lot while others maybe reap the benefits with less contribution. Personally I like to see members interacting with one another’s posts. Interaction builds community.

In an ideal state every member would be interacting on steemit, chatting in the discord, donating to the raffle, getting on the vote trail and utilizing our bot. In the real world it nice to see members contribute in a couple ways that feel good for them.

What do you think?

Also, if my long ramble above has given you more questions please let me know. ☺️

Cheers,

@dfinney

Thanks @dfinney, you're an excellent ambassador for your cause! :)

I appreciate hearing more about the group. I tried to find a website or a "this is who we are" type post, but couldn't. The group (not members, but the group infrastructure) seems to be spread all over the blockchain in little bits here and there. I guess that's kind of how a lot of Steem-based groups are. Anyway, now I know what you do, membership details, pros and cons, etc.

I should have investigated before agreeing to nomination, sorry about that. Due to personal beliefs and limits I've set for my own conduct, my membership in the group would exist only as my name on a list somewhere.

No offense meant at all, but the only thing SSG and I have in common is "interaction". I like to browse, read, and curate exceptional content whenever I can find it. I produce exceptional content, and I'm always looking for people who want or need it. But I don't do much Discord chat, and I never accept votes obtained by membership in something, or on tiers, and I never delegate. I'd never be part of a curation trail (neither to give or receive votes), and I don't do contests or raffles. Lastly, I'd have to sit out of the crypto buying pool, because as a stacker I know "if you don't hold it, you don't own it". That goes for cryptos as well as PMs - I'd never store on an exchange (crypto bank), for example. If you don't hold it, even if a trusted community member is holding it on your behalf, you don't own it. I'm a little shocked that any stackers would participate in such a thing.

I've been told that members posting outside the "steemsilvergold" tag is pointless, because the members may not find your post, and the bot may not upvote it, etc. But to me, dropping knowledge should be done where it can be found by those who need it. Group members already know most of this stuff. I'm trying to reach the unwashed masses, the sleepy majority, the people we can potentially save from ignorance and financial ruin. Posting inside one tag feels like it is preaching to the choir.

I try to post about precious metals in various parts of the blockchain, and I find it brings in new interest. Tags like gold, silver, metals, economy, news, mining, finances, money, bullion, and so on. I even talk about silver and gold within posts about other topics, such as cannabis, philosophy, science, or politics.

I mean no offense to you or the group. I'll continue to browse through the member list for exceptional channels to follow. I can't participate in any way beyond that, and it isn't fair to just have my name on a list somewhere (not contributing like other members do), so I'm afraid I won't be of any use to your group.

I'll continue to interact with and support high quality original precious metals enthusiasts and monetary theorists. Many of them will end up being SSG members, I'm sure! So I'll see you around the blockchain. :)

Steem (and stack) on!

☺️ All very respectable and well expressed reasons. We definitely look to engage with folks who share an interest in metals so being in the group or out of the group doesn’t change this. ☺️

As for finding info... the decentralized nature of Steemit does make it hard!

Have a lovely afternoon! See you around the blockchain!

Cheers!

Hi Drutter. The tag SSG uses (the group you can always join in the future) is #steemsilvergold. Greetings from Holland.

Hey @drutter I came here to ask you a few question and find out what your issues were with #steemsilvergold and your problems with @ssg-community...

After reading your conversation with @dfinney above(comments), I can see that you are a genuine person, with high morals and here to create high quality content. The perfect example of what steemit was made for.

I wasn't looking to pick a fight, but wanted to know why you thought steemsilvergold wasn't good enough for you, but now I totally understand exactly where you are coming from and you have my full support and admiration.

Please see steemsilvergold as an ally and here should you need support. I think we both know where the current financial system is headed and its always good to have like minded individuals to share ideas and thoughts with. We use the tag #steemsilvergold simply to make posts easier to find and I welcome you to use this tag for your quality content. I've enjoyed reading your latest blogs and look forward to reading some more.

Stay classy buddy and if nothing else, you have a new follower in me 😉

Not to worry @welshstacker, thanks for your comment. I feel it was perhaps more a case of a poor matchup, than anyone being not good enough for anyone else. I am hard to group up with, and that's my fault! Keep up the great work :)
