Golf: Players Championship Preview

Hi Friends,

This weekend holds one of the year’s biggest golf tournaments of the year for the PGA Tour – the Player’s Championship.

The tournament is held at TPC Sawgrass in Florida, and the weather looks to be pretty consistent – partly cloudy with slight chances of rain, a temperature in the mid-60s, and a little bit of a breeze. The world’s top players will be there, and crowd favorites Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods will be in the field.

The favorite to win is world No. 1 Dustin Johnson, but don’t count out some of the big names right behind him – Rory McIlory, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, etc. John Rahm has been playing well coming into the event, so I am expecting him to contend for the championship.

The tournament tees off tomorrow (Thursday), and is scheduled to finish on Sunday. The course’s signature hole is number 17 – a par-3 shot over water to an island green! A breeze can really cause trouble and even the pros get nervous of embarrassing themselves at this hole with the potential of numerous shots in the water.
