It's a Blooming Daisy Faye

As many of you know, my father passed away recently and the kindness of strangers was just amazing. There were meals prepared and given to my mother, people volunteering to assist with various chores, and lots of cards. The one thing that mom found overwhelming were all the flower deliveries. There were so many that at one point there was not a surface in her house that didn't have a bouquet sitting on it. She decided I needed one so I picked the one with the daisies. They are my favorite flower and the brightness of the bouquet made me smile.

I was feeling extremly sad at one point and decided to make myself laugh so I put the googly eyes on some of the flowers. It did make me smile.

I just love the beautiful smile upon the rose's face. She seems to be singing. Could it be she is singing the song Daddy would sing to me? I can almost hear her,

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine;
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You'll never know dear how much I love you!
Please don't take my sunshine away.

My parents fought on the day I was born; they fought over my name. You see, I was supposed to be a boy and I was going to be named after my dad and grandpa. However, when they found out I was going to be a girl Dad wanted me to be named Daisy. My mother refused because she was afraid I would be teased. You see, I was born in Arkansas and there was a show called The Beverly Hillbillies (I am sure you have heard of it) that had a female character called Daisy May. The whole family just happened to be from the area my mother's family was from. My mother was horrified.

When my mother was little she always wanted to have a daughter named after herself so no matter what, my middle name would have been Faye. This is what worried my mother, so my name would never be Daisy Faye and there are many days I find myself appreciative for her stubborness.

So in honor of my Darling Daddy, I give you Daisy Faye, the #googlyeyes flower.

The pig nose is a huge family joke and we remember it fondly.

Now, please keep in mind that I honestly do not know if this is anywhere near a true story. My father loved to hear people laugh and would spin a major yarn if he thought it would bring out a good belly laugh. So I do not know if it is true or if he was just trying to make me feel like a special little girl; I just know that I miss him.

Thanks for remembering the happy memories.

ohh sorry to hear that

He was so tired of fighting and made sure we all had good memories. I miss him, but I hated seeing him in pain and frustrated. Therefore I am going to focus on the happy.

Thank you so much for thoughts and know I appreciate you so much.

I want a bouquet of daisy fays please the L👀k absolutely lovely

I have called them that for years. Mom tell me "no, they are just daisies." I will correct her and say, "no, daddy says they are daisy fayes."
Hhahahaha. What thoughts go through kids' brains!

I love there clean view on life

oh wow... I love when people go a bit deeper and get personal with those #GooglyEyes.

It appears to me that your Dad would have probably been someone who'd have appreciated some good goofy googlies himself... especially when they'd be called Daisy Faye... which is a lovely sounding name btw :D

Thanks for sharing this moment and those flowers with #googlyeyes and all of us.

He was not very supportive of our steem adventure and was concerned we were traveling too much, but he would get excited about things that were creative. I had told him about the goolgy eye contest and he was coming up with all types of ideas. He had asked me if we could get some giant googly eyes for him to do funny pictures with. Unfortunately, that was just a couple of days before we lost him; therefore, I felt this was a very appropriate.post.

oh wow... that possibly made my eyes a bit watery now...

My plan has worked! Mwahahahahahaha!

Seriously though. I just want everyone know what a wonderful man he was.

My father loved to hear people laugh

The flowers with the "googly eyes" look really great, your father would definitely like them. Touching pictures, happy and melancholic at the same time!

I don't know your father, but I still wish him a good trip to the place we all come from and to which we all return one day.

Thank you so much. The last conversation with him and my mom was him telling her a really bad joke. She said she groaned and walked out of the room hearing him laugh. Thirty minutes later mom walked in and he was asleep. We know now that he had passed sometime during that time. Mom said it was a good passing with the laughter being the last she heard. We are so good with this.

Lol super cute curious flowers :) nice entry!

Sorry for your loss, but glad you were able to find something to smile about!
