Progression

In following the parable of the lost coin, Luke 15, After lighting the candle and sweeping the house, she sought diligently till she found the misplaced coin. For something to be misplaced connotes that it was initially had. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

A diligent search is done even when the condition is not convenient. Despite the situation of the economy, politics, the socio-cultural or administrative milieu, the Church must decide to unwavering seek diligently what the scripture says and apply it to the situation. Christ has given the Church (woman) to look for the lost coin in the fold. His Spirit makes ministrations effective.

Christ grace is sufficient for redeeming the lost, restoring the backsliders, converting sinners, and doing more than we can imagine. What we have to do is lead them to the Truth. We are to show the diligence and circumspection of Grace, it is NOT the amount of words that makes the different BUT grace. Can it be that the Church (woman) has misplaced a coin because she had allowed the Word she heard not to take root in her? Does that mean that the Church must not stop preaching the Grace that can help find the misplaced? If the woman represents the church of God what then is the coin that is missing? I think this is the main desire for this chapter. If there were ten coins and one was missing, what really was that one coin?

The church have always tried to concentrate on the ‘outside’ BUT this has to do with the ‘inside’. I was studying to know what this missing coin is and my finding on it was shocking to me. In understanding the correctness of this coin, I realized that the ten coin were always together but the woman only saw nine. She knew there was something missing by a conviction and she started to count to be able to find the missing coin. Like the shepherd whose one sheep went astray, the woman also did a search on her coins. This is how she noticed that one was missing.

A coin can be talent as explained earlier and it can also be seen as a gift. The church operates on the gift of God, and that gift when visible in a Church produces an undeniable result that the world cannot help but confess that this is the magnificent work of God.
