Ergot in French Wheat Returns
Ergot content, this is a term that you do not hear every day. If you remember, ergot poisoning is like an LSD-type of mimicking effect that brought about the witch trials.
Recently, French wheat cargo was stuck in Egypt due to high levels of ergot.
I am sure that back in the 15th and 16th century, they could tell everybody that business could go on as usual because witches were the ones creating hailstorms.
This is a fact, as evidenced by the 1550–1700 witch trials distributed across Europe. Notice where the concentrations are. This too, is another good indication of where the weather impacts brought by the Grand Solar Minimum are going to be most highly felt. If you look at today’s extreme weather conditions, they are located exactly in the same locations as the witch burnings, the red dots on the map. We have Northern Italian Alps, Slovenia, down in the Adriatic, and right in the middle of France with exact same event happening, decimation of the vineyards.
These were brought about as well by the 16th century mega drought that can be seen in the image of tree rings below, the tight rings represent what drought conditions look like. We are going to go back to something like this in the Grand Solar Minimum in certain parts of Europe.
Drought was not only the weather change that was observed, some extreme cold and mega floods as well. Take a look at the progression shown in the map from approximately 1530, on the left side of the chart, and then the drop out in temperatures. The undulations can be observed showing that it was not cold all the time even during the Maunder Minimum.
There were some decades that were warmer than others, but in the late 1560s, you can see the 40-year spell there, it was really cold during that time, it warmed up a bit, and then it got cold again. These types of variants and undulations are expected in Decadal Temperatures, as we move forward.
We are starting to head to one of the downtrends of cooling all the way to 2024–2025 in this first “wave of cold”. This is mimicking the exact same thing that was forecast in solar activity shown on this chart, but fast forward it to today.
I am sure that we are all familiar with “the year without a summer” after the Tambora eruption, but were you aware that there was also another year without a summer in 1628? Guess what! This was blamed on witches.
I know that this has made the rounds for several months on Reddit, but it is still apropos for the heavy hail storms created by witches. So, I wonder who the new scapegoat will be when the weather falls out.
Speaking of poor planting conditions, Uganda failed start to seasonal rains. This seems to be the story of the year, but this is not the only place with this condition, everywhere you look, the weather patterns are off by 1 to 2 months. How will our global agriculture adapt to this?
A look at this IRI multi-model probability forecast for precipitation for May, June, and July 2019. That yellow on the map means difficult planting conditions.
And since I am on the subject of seeds and growing, looking at some of these bean ad grain choices I snapped images of in Hanoi, Vietnam in a storefront. As you can see, this is a very small selection of what is available. So, if you are thinking about relocating to different areas across the planet, you must think what you can get locally in bulk.

Hi David, thanks for this article. I live in Italy, in Liguria, close to the famous town of Triora, where the worst witch trial of our country happened in 1587. Who is interested in history and witchcraft know for sure about the sad story of Franchetta Borelli, who survived the trials, even if crippled and in pain for the rest of her life. But what people probably don’t know is that Triora was called granaio della Repubblica, the bread basket of the Republic. The most important grain harvest of the republic of Genoa came from there. I really believe Ergot was the cause of the witch trials. Franchetta kept a diary that was saved after her death and gives us really important insight of the climate in that period. She wrote: “i remember it was the summer of 1587. Not the happy summer of the harvest, but a new one of poverty and famine. We had nothing to feed the animals and to save for winter in our pantries. Since two years we were starving, since two years you could see desperation in our sad and poor eyes, since two years the animals were thin to the bones e we walked in the streets with great fatigue. It was because of the witches, for sure it was the witches. The parliament of Triora was in council and decided it was the witches. They paid 500 shields to have their trials. We were starving to death, but they used the money to find the witches.”
When the new grand solar minimum will hit who will be blamed? Maybe fascists or comunists? The truth is we are not ready and we won’t be ready. A new famine is upon us, but this time we it will take a while to learn how to grow food again without the help of technology. In the past minimum people new how to survive, do we? Can we stay without power for more than a week without killing each other? Well, we wait and see
