What if no team requirement (calculations)
I calculated what happens if there is no Gridcoin team requirement exists.
Method
Export stats/host.gz from projects, unpacked, then do summ for all hosts:
$ grep '<expavg_credit>' numberfields | grep -o -e '[0-9.]\+' | awk '{s+=$1} END {printf "%.0f\n", s}'
18802352
Then compared to Gridcoin team stats.
No data for enigma, einstein, wcg.
Results
Greens are competitiveness rise less than in half
Yellow less than in fourth
Red is more than fourth
Conclusion
- LHC, Rosetta and SETI become VERY competitive (rewards will be 10x lower)
- Asteriods, Universe, Collatz, GPUGRID, Milkyway, PrimeGrid become more competitive.
- Almost nothing changes to latinsquares, TN-grid, yafu and VGTU.
Thank you for the analysis @sau412. I would suggest to exclude the teamless participants out of the overview as well as they could have joined team Gridcoin already but still didn't. Have a look at this article where I went through a similar excercise.

You cannot overlook 4 key major factors , #1 is that many people just Boinc for the science of it and their computers run Boinc when they unsuspended it or their settings are date/time based when they are at work or sleeping so they do not run 24/7. This is like 1 of my hosts , its my roommates computer and he suspends Boinc when he gets home from work , restarts it when he goes to sleep and then suspends it when he wakes up and resumes it when he goes to work. Like many people with Boinc installed sometimes he forgets , or reboots and Boinc is not set to autostart.
#2 The vast majority of Boinc'ers do not care about crypto currency or they have no interest ( another example is my dad and a few life long friends whom and our kids or grandkids are into Bitcoin but they are not nor do they have any interest in any form of it or like it ). They just run Boinc to feel like they are contributing to fields they had wished they had gone to school for and gotten degrees in vs their current job.
#3 The vast majority of Boinc'ers are against crypto currency and despise it and Gridcoin being an option and relation with Boinc.
#4 Since it would be a choice to opt in or out you cannot just take the whole number of Boincer's and calculate the outcome.
This works just like the whole project magnitude posts and trying to give a static factual number based on pulling a snapshot in time of stats based on that one single current days users without knowledge of each persons host hardware so its less than hypothetical.
It's great to see you post and give a possible outcome but that in my opinion is one of the cool things with Boinc and Gridcoin is that you just have to either choose a project you think you would earn the most for or a project that is based upon something you have interest in or the outcome of a projects contributions and either contributing to the medical sciences or mathematical science.
You can refer to each projects forums , the Boinc forums and reddit and see that most of the people whom run Boinc would not opt in just like current as its a choice and they either are not part of a team or choose a team other than Gridcoin knowing we exist and do not ditch their current team and/or join team Gridcoin. It's all as fluid as the value of Gridcoin changing every minute/hour/day. I think that is one thing that makes Gridcoin great.
