Homemade Gun Schematics On An Immutable Blockchain

in #guns6 years ago

The future is now.

I'm sure most of you by now have seen the WIRED video about homemade guns/gun schematics on the internet. If you haven't watch it below. Credit to WIRED for the video.

The larger issue was the U.S. State Department's court case against Defense Distributed. They are the company who released the first 3D printable gun schematics on the internet. Now they are working on a whole program of plastic printable and auto cad machineable gun parts and lowers.

Yes they are based in Austin, Texas. You can check out their web page here. https://defdist.org/

Now the question begs. Could the U.S. Gooberment ever actually ban a digital file?

Franks says, "Nope."

But in the last 5 years (since the federal lawsuit) the proliferation of blockchains and distributed/decentralized systems have really taken off.

I would love to see a virtual library of weapons schematics uploaded to say a Dapp on the EOS blockchain. Similar to what Everipedia is doing on EOS right now.

Imagine the Freedom of downloading a file for a little EOS and printing directly to your 3D printer instantly.

Super Cool.

Has me all like...

I don't know what the long term plans are from Defense Distributed, but I do know that blockchain and crypto are on their radar.

After all, there was a Dash banner hanging in the background of their office...........

Thanks for reading my blog.

Carry On, HM

Huh, pretty kool IMO. I love the idea. I can only hope it's cheap enough for the common man who wishes to do so. As for the idiots who think this is going to make them more unsafe, well, there's no arguing with them or a need to. If ALL guns were somehow collected and destroyed the bad guys would still have them some how some way so safety is not the issue training and owning one is. Oh, and for those people, when seconds matter call a cop...... they'll be there in a matter of minutes.

I wouldn't know anything about and definitely DO NOT have access to an 80% milling jig and router made specifically for AR15 lowers. What ghost gun?

Seriously its a cool hobby. Look into it. The next evolution of gunsmithing/prepping is home builds.

;) I will brother.
