Whenever people start talking about needing a permit to defend oneself my eyes roll. Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness includes the right to defend all of those actions and states by any reasonable means necessary. Only an extreme naïve you history and humanity could possibly make one believe that someone other than your selves has their best interest at heart.
