Banzai, haiku poets of Bananafish Tribe!

[ENG]

The 23rd edition of Mizu no Oto – Every Image Has Its Haiku has come to an end.

This week 20 poets have ventured into the first edition of a new contest format. The proposed haiku were evaluated only in their English form.

Next week, it will be time for Spanish haikus.

The prompt post with the photo and the winners proclamation post, that is this, will be published in both languages.

Every, week, the prompt post will be accompanied by a brief theorical writing about haiku and their aesthetics.

We hope that this change has been well received. We are always open to other suggestions and opinions.

I would also like to publicly thank @calluna and @theironfelix, who are sending many photos suitable for future editions of the contest! You’re precious!

Siempre estamos abiertos a otras sugerencias y opiniones.

Sois preciosos!

Burnin' light
over the blue plains
-beholden

[ENG] This week our Master Philosopher wrote not one, but four haikus inspired by Calluna's photo. If we add to this the fact that it has also written four more for our friend @vdux's competition, we have a post with a corpus of eight excellent haikus.
What struck me most was the first, and that's what I chose as the best haiku of the edition. That "beholden" that entirely occupies the part after the kireji hovers suspended for a long time, filling the reader with the same gratitude that the word evokes. The haiku is sober and elegant, without excessive verbal acrobatics that would constitute a note of demerit, and not of merit, for the aesthetic rules that govern this form of poetry.

@amigoponc

Fatal destiny;
threatens the sun, extinction.
God keeps his promise.

[ENG] A painful note in this haiku, dictated by the contingent situation in a country that is very dear to us, Venezuela. Every week I am amazed by the determination and perseverance of the many Venezuelan friends who participate in the competition, trying to give us verses of lightness and serenity while living in a situation of enormous crisis. This week, @amigoponc's cry of pain brought some reality, even if it was transfigured by the haiku. The other participants have rightly thought of rewarding him, in solidarity with his feelings.

Best Comment Vote award (1 SBI share):

@agmoore

I'm voting for @amigoponc. A couple of reasons: The language is compelling. Every word carries weight and together they deliver a punch. But the most persuasive reason is the way she uses the haiku, and sunset, as representations of an apocalypse. Sunset marks the end of a single day for all of us. It's a kind of temporal apocalypse we experience together. @amigoponc reflects on the end of settled times in her country. What will tomorrow bring? What will sunrise reveal?
You see, this little haiku had a really big impact on me.

[ENG] As often happens now, and I am proud to write it, this comment provides a better critique of the haiku than the one I wrote above.
Agmoore is a veteran of the contest, and every time she takes part in it, she puts all her heart and soul in it, both in composing haiku and, even more, in reading, commenting and supporting.

Domo arigato gozaimasu to all the other participants. You are the backbone of this contest. Keep on writing haiku! ¡Sigue escribiendo haiku!

See you tomorrow with Edition #24, in Spanish!

Taking advantage of the fact that electric rationing will begin in about 3 hours, I find myself in this wonderful publication by our friend @bananafish, whom I thank for his mention and comment and his constant support.

Thanks to all the participants, they were very good entries this week.

I want to point out that our friend @theironfelix, has provided an excellent entry with his winning Haiku, I notice that the English metric is 3-5-3, but the evocation of the times, the subtlety of the comparison and complementing each verse, has been very accurate.

We will see tomorrow with the call for the week in Spanish. Blessings and prosperity for all.

And so welcome to the @bananafish community, once again.
Thanks for being an entryist (and winner) of the round, we always love new faces!
Who be this mysterious @xxx? I am very curious in who they be~ Would like to even read a haiku of theirs. Maybe in the next edition tomorrow!~

Congrats to all the winners and entryists!~
