Banzai, haiku poets of Bananafish Tribe!

The 27th edition of Mizu no Oto – Every Image Has Its Haiku has come to an end.

We had 24 participants like the last week, some of them, particularly @theironfelix, @calluna, @wongjava, @gracielaacevedo, @josemalavem, posted two or more haiku.

Even if, as simple reader, I really like to see these variations on the theme, as – alas! - severe contest holder, I have to ask you to post a single haiku each.

I found myself in great difficulty in deciding which of your compositions to take into consideration for the contest, also because it does not seem right that some may participate with many poems and others only with one.

I will be delighted to read all your haiku in the future, as long as you clearly indicate which of them is the one with which you participate in the contest.

I am sure you understand the reasons behind my request and that I can count on your cooperation.

La 27ª edición de Mizu no Oto - Cada imagen tiene su Haiku ha llegado a su fin.

Tuvimos 24 participantes como la semana pasada; algunos de ellos, particularmente @theironfelix, @calluna, @wongjava, @gracielaacevedo, @josemalavem, publicaron dos o más haiku.

Incluso si, como simple lector, realmente me gusta ver estas variaciones en el tema, como - ¡ay! - severo titular del concurso, tengo que pedirte que publiques un solo haiku cada uno.

Me resultó muy difícil decidir cuál de sus composiciones tomar en consideración para el concurso, también porque no parece correcto que algunos puedan participar con muchos poemas y otros solo con uno.

Estaré encantado de leer todos sus haiku en el futuro, siempre que usted indique claramente cuál de ellos es con el que participa en el concurso.

Estoy seguro de que entiende las razones detrás de mi solicitud y que puedo contar con su cooperación.

The disused boat
sinks with grace,
cradle of sirens.

[ENG] This week I was very undecided between three beautiful haikus. In addition to this, the second, more fairytale, of Graciela, struck me as the one by @owasco, which also uses elements of folklore (not mermaids, but Jack Frost), and that by @acostacazorla, whose intimate melancholy recalls some haiku of ancient Japanese masters.
I decided to reward Graciela for the simple elegance and the harmonic sound that her haiku gives me in reading, and also because she was the only one among the three to have reached an appreciation in the audience.

[ES] Esta semana estuve muy indeciso entre tres hermosos haikus. Además de esto, el segundo, màs màgico, de Graciela, me me llamaron la atención el de @owasco, que también utiliza elementos del folklore (no sirenas, sino Jack Frost), y el de @acostacazorla, cuya melancolía íntima recuerda a algunos haiku de antiguos maestros japoneses.
Decidí recompensar a Graciela por la elegancia simple y el sonido armónico que su haiku me da en la lectura, y también porque fue la única entre los tres que alcanzó una apreciación en la audiencia.

Rising the sea
The breeze blows lightly.

The boat awaits.

[ENG] You really liked this haiku, and in fact it has a very nice structure with its kireji, as well as a splendid contrast between the water that is just starting to ripple and the still, half sunken boat.
I suggested to the author that he find a better form for the first verse, which could be difficult for English speakers to understand, since it is a loan translation from the Spanish.
"The sea is rippling" or "the rippling sea" would be better versions, in my opinion.

[ES] Realmente vos ha gustado este haiku, y de hecho tiene una estructura muy agradable con su kireji, así como un espléndido contraste entre el agua que está empezando a ondular y el bote inmóvil, medio hundido.
Le sugerí al autor que encontrara una mejor forma para el primer verso, lo que podría ser difícil de entender para los hablantes de inglés, ya que es una traducción de préstamo del español.
En mi opinión, “the sea is rippling” o "the rippling sea" serían versiones mejores.

I enjoyed this 5-7-5 haiku at the end of @cyemela haibun (which I have to admit I do not know what that is). The story and the haiku along with the photo prompt amused me. It has many of the characteristics of a wondrous haiku (kigo, sabi, and mono no aware among them), but shiori is the predominant characteristic for me - I laughed out loud when I read it and envisioned the characters trying to stage a futile little party in that boat. Summer!

Summer hope, water -
The tea trip must be postponed,
not a party boat.

[ENG] I very much appreciated the enthusiasm of @owasco (who, among other things, composed an excellent haiku) and the generosity of her comment, which also includes haiku and the link so that everyone can read it easily.
The haibun, as rightly specified by @cyemela, are short pieces of diary prose or travel notes accompanied by one or more haiku. I'll talk about it in a future article accompanied to the contest.
