Banzai, haiku poets of Bananafish Tribe!

The 33rd edition of Mizu no Oto – Every Image Has Its Haiku has come to an end.

I didn't know what your welcome would be like after more than a month of stop, and with the parameters slightly changed.
I note with pleasure that your desire to enjoy the haiku is not at all dormant!

Some of you may have noticed that we have become a little more restrictive about which poems to admit and which to not admit.
Some of your, though valuable, compositions are not considered real haikus, and we believe it is right to specify this.
Our goal is to give value to this poetic form by trying to get closer and closer to its purity.

This "break-in" edition took you by surprise so we didn't get enough votes to award the Popular Choice and the Best Vote Comment awards.
Never mind, it will mean that we have more resources for future editions.
@f3nix is jumping through hoops to maintain the sustainability of all Bananafish contests, in order to grant resources for the prizes for many many editions.
Thanks to awesome @curie and @crowdmind sponsorships, and donations from the generous Bananafish Knights, we can offer a considerable amount of STEEM, SBI and SNAX, but we have to be careful to not dilapidate too early all the resources and keep Bananafish growing.
With what we saved from this edition, we can be more secure about a second Mizu No Oto in July!

Here come the winner of this edition!

Best Haiku award (3 STEEM + 250 SNAX):

@jmvanbreda

trees hold hands
waiting to bear fruit -
a chainsaw coughs

From the formal point of view, this haiku has nothing to complain about. At reading, it is fluid and musical.
The kireji highlights a strong symbolic contrast between the natural rhythms and the human intrusion, which plays the role of death carrier, thus introducing the themes of mono no aware and sabi.
At first glance, it might seem that the chainsaw has nothing to do with the photo, but the ladder bolted to the trunk, the steel cables and the platforms of the athletic course surely required an invasive intervention on the trees.
For this reason, the association of ideas, permeated by a bitter irony, seems to fit naturally.
A very good poem!

Our awesome winner achieves the right to decorate his footer with this exclusive and beautiful banner by @f3nix:

Congrats to @jmvanbreda! I love the innocence of the trees, holding hands like children, unaware for the moment of man and his destructive tools. Were they going to cut trees, or more of the seats? Mysterious.

Thank you!
