The parts of the body that remain the same in size from birth till death; Myths and Facts.

in #health5 years ago

There are some parts of the body that are fully formed and developed at birth and would cease to grow or increase in size as the body ages. Yes, this is a solid fact.

However, this fact comes with a myth as most people aware know the answer to be the eyes. I'm sorry to burst your bubbles but this is a misconception.

...

I wouldn't go into the details but, I'd be sure to give the facts accurately.

There are two body parts that remains the same in size throughout one's lifetime and they are:

Sources

  • the Cornea of the eye
  • the Ossicular chain of the ear

The cornea of the eye is the clear, dome-shaped, protective and outermost layer of the eye. The cornea protects the other parts of the eye from dirt, dust and germs. It focuses and refracts light entering into the eyes for better vision.
It is also the only part of the body that lacks blood supply.

On the other hand, the tiniest bones of the body, malleus, incus and stapes collectively known as Ossicular chain is located within the middle ear. It is also known as the auditory ossicles, ear bones or Ossicula auditus. Basically, it function is to transmit sound waves in form of vibrations from the tympanic membrane (eardrum) to the oval window (an opening into the inner ear) which connects to the cochlea.

There you go! The cornea and ossicular chain do not observe growth throughout one's lifetime. I hope my post is very helpful and informative.
