My neighbour has a dairy farm and has also cows for selling and breeding. He is a farmer and a friend. While walking the dogsofsteemit i saw some pinken, that what they are called they are young and were in a side paddock.

I saw that they were sick, or rather i saw a rash on their held and assumed they were there for that reason. I wanten to know what was wrong with them, so today i went out and met himat the barn and asked.

He told me but i had to google it when i got home and translate it.

There are many factors that influence the health of cows. And skin problems are among those health factors. Most of these problems are fairly harmless and completely curable. In addition, not every skin condition is contagious to other animals or transferable to humans. Two disorders that are common are sunburn and scabies. What do these conditions entail, what are the symptoms and what is the best treatment? Can they be transferred to other cows? I was askimg all kind of questions and this is the best summary i could find online.

Ring scab is a fungal infection of the skin that mainly occurs in cattle up to two years old. Calves can be a carrier of the fungus without showing the symptoms. The infection mainly takes place with a reduced resistance and an increased infection pressure. A poor stable climate can also play a role in distribution, so good ventilation is important. In the case of my neighbour thats not the occasion cause the cattle is in half open stables. Ring scab is a zoonosis, which means that the infection can be transmitted to people. Children in particular are susceptible to the fungus. The term ring fire is common in humans; the term ring scab is really used for animals.

Symptoms of ring scab

Characteristic of ring scabies are the round, bald spots with grayish crusts. These places usually do not itch. It is a condition that can occur all over the body, but there are a few preferred places: the head, the neck and the shoulders.

The cause; Ring scab is caused by filamentous fungi: Trichophyton verrucosum. Contamination mainly takes place through direct contact between animals. Indirect contamination is also possible; this is done, for example, via stable equipment and tools. Disease course;

Incubation: time between infection and symptoms. The fungus begins to multiply in the hair follicles seven to seventeen days after the infection.

Maturation: the fungus has penetrated deep into the hair shafts and begins to break down hair. This is fourteen to twenty-eight days after the incubation the highlight of the infection is four to seven weeks after the infection: the symptoms are visible.

Recovery: the disease disappears automatically due to the structure of the immune system. However, the healing process can take quite a long time, on average two to four months. However, longer or shorter is also possible: think of three weeks to nine months. The gray scabs disappear and the hair grows back.

Offcourse i padded them and said sweet things to them, i am not a farmer so please if i stated something wrong i appologize and let me know. But let me reassure you that the pinken are doing ok and i Will go by and be sweet to them untill they have recovered.
