We use camphor for many purposes. But camphor also has many adverse effects, of which we're not well aware.

"What's camphor?"
Camphor was made by distilling the wood and bark of camphor tree. But now it's made from turpentine oil. To find respite from a fungal infection, all you need to do is to mix a few camphor drops with water and use it on the affected area. To find respite from symptoms of the cold, rub some camphor oil right on your chest.

"Adverse effects of camphor:"
Camphor can cause severe chemical imbalances in the brain. Those with epilepsy must, therefore, be extremely careful when using camphor.

Chest problems: Camphor may cause discomfort on the chest. Swelling of the affected area can also take place.

Camphor and pregnancy: There exists no specific pregnancy safety study on applying camphor to the skin during pregnancy or when breastfeeding. But some skin experts suggest that pregnant and breastfeeding mothers avoid camphor as it might be exceedingly dangerous for them. Camphor gets consumed by the placenta and might cause physical and neurological injury to the foetus. When absorbed it can reach the milk quickly. This often leads to camphor hepatotoxicity in babies and kids.

Dryness of lips: Camphor could make your lips very dry. Camphor, as you know, is utilised for treating various skin inflammations. But using it may cause acute dryness of lips also.
It is important to stress that camphor isn't edible. Camphor is intended just for external application. Therefore, it isn't at all recommended that you use it on cracked and peeled skin. Red rashes can develop all over your skin. These rashes can be painful and also itchy. You'll have to consult your physician and take his advice.

Respiratory issues: Camphor might also affect your respiration. This is an acute health condition for kids and babies who've respiratory disorders. Camphor can be extremely dangerous for these children. Even when it's taken in small amounts, it might lead to death in kids and skin toxicity in adults. Camphor hepatotoxicity is a significant side effect of camphor intake.
