Excessive intake of probiotic supplements may cause brain fogginess

Probiotic supplements are generally given to increase the number of good bacteria in intestines. The consumption of antibiotic normally destroys good bacteria, leading to bowel problem or digestive issue. Probiotics are given to restore the numbers of good bacteria in your guts. These good bacteria help in improve digestive process and create bulk stool so that it can be easily flushed out from your body. But recently it is found that the excessive intake of self-prescribing probiotic may cause brain fogginess. 

Researchers examined 30 patients who were taking probiotic supplements. They found 22 of them had some brain issues that include confusion and lack of concentration. Moreover they also experienced gas and bloating in their stomach. In further study, scientists found huge amounts of bacteria were being reproduced in the small guts of patients and bacteria lactobacillus were producing high levels of D-lactic acid during the fermentation of sugars in their food. Researchers suggested patients not to take excessive self-prescribing probiotic supplements.
