Diabetes is a disease condition where ones blood sugar levels are very high. Sugar come from the foods we eat. A hormone by the name insulin helps the sugar from these foods make it into the cells to provide them with the energy that may be needed. There are two types of diabetes, we have the type 1, where an individual’s body is not able to make insulin and then the type 2, which comes as results of one’s body not been able to make enough insulin or the body is not able to utilize the insulin provided well. When the insulin is not enough or the body is not able to use it well, glucose which is a form of sugar which is has been broken down by the down, it actually in this form that the body uses sugar, so these glucose stays in the blood resulting in very high blood sugar levels and thus one gets diagnosed with diabetes. However, there is also something we call prediabetes, thus when an individual has higher blood sugar levels but it is not enough to diagnose the person with diabetes, note however that having a high glucose level in the blood for a long time will contribute or make one easily susceptible to type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is diagnosed using blood tests.

Having diabetes as a medical condition affects your overall health and lots of organs in the system and the eye is no exception to this, the condition may affect many parts of the eye like the retina, lens and optic disc. Diabetic eye disease is a group of eye disease that come about as results diabetic condition.

Diabetic retinopathy may cause blockage of blood vessels in the retina resulting in formation of new vessels and leakage of blood in to the vitreous. It happens to be on of the most commonest causes of vision loss among diabetic patients and among the leading cause of visual impairment among the aged.

Diabetic Macula Edema causes the macula the part of the retina responsible for central vision to swell.

Diabetes may also cause or hasten the formation of cataract, it may also increase the risk of glaucoma diagnosis (a sight threatening irreversible condition that affects the optic nerve fiber, it is mostly attributed to pressure formation in the eye)

Prevention and Treatment

It may be irreversible to loss your vision to diabetic retinopathy however the good news is that if caught early for treatment risk of blindness can be reduced by up to 95 percent. These diabetic disease most often than not presents with almost no symptoms at all until at a very later stage hence I would like to admonish everyone especially those diagnosed with diabetes to get a thorough eye examination at least once every year to be on the safer side. For pregnant women with diabetes additional exams may be needed hence it advised they get a comprehensive eye examination as soon as possible.

thanks for sharing in your great thoughts bro

Great job!
In the course of my interaction with some people, I found out that some folkloric beliefs, mostly dominant in the rural areas has it that, drinking beer due to its bitter taste can reduce the risk of diabetes. It sounds funny but true. What can you say about this please

Alcohol is known to have a tendency of reducing blood sugar levels which is why it is not advised to be taken in on an empty stomach cause you may end up becoming hypoglycaemic and in the case of ur scennario bitter beers tend to hv no or very little sugar content hence this property is accelerated, the whole thing about diabete is spike in blood sugar levels especially for type 2 hence if this effect is taking course over time then yes i believe it would reduce reduce the risk of becoming diabetic however take note that everything done not done in moderation leads to bad things happening, alcohol can be addictive so i won't recommend that as a form of diabetic prevention measure since it can also damage your liver in the long run and it increases fats in the system which can also lead to high blood pressure.

Very good posts, hopefully you can always be successful in the esteem business

of course...everything is so possible

Just a heads up @wafrica, it's a comment spam bot that has posted this same comment over and over on other posts as well.
