AIR PURIFYING PLANTS (PART 3)

in #health6 years ago

If you don't have much of a green thumb, but would like to have air purifying plants in your house, then the Snake Plant could be for you.

Also known as Mother-in-laws Tongue, or (SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA), it is a very hardy plant.

It will thrive in both bright and low-light areas, and flourish in cool and warm climates.

The Snake Plant originates in Africa, Madagascar and Southern Asia, and is another plant that is highly recommended by NASA researchers for air purification purposes.

Its inexpensive and low-maintenance, infact it prefers to be underwatered rather than overwatered.

Like the Aloe Vera succulent, the best place for this plant is the bedroom, because of its ability to suck in carbon dioxide and release oxygen during the night.

It also filters benzene, xylene, trichloroethylene, formaldehyde and amonia, and is ideal for up to 80% of air pollutants, converting them to natural substances. An added bonus with this plant is that it appears to eliminate bad odors too.

Another economical benefit of this succulent is that they are easy to divide, so in no time at all you can have one in every room providing you with fresh air.

Great incitive write up and how plants can provide clean air.

All these plants you are suggesting really make me want to get one for my area. Though how are they with cats? I am afraid if Soju decides to chew on them. Also, I don't have much space to put a big pot. Is there something smaller?

The Spider plant is supposed to be non-toxic, but not good if they eat a lot of it, and can be put in a smaller pot or hanging basket. Maidenhair fern is fine for cats to chew on as well, and are quite pretty. Aloe vera is a no no for cats and dogs to eat and so is the peace lily and snake plant. But saying that I have all of these in my house because Inca shows no interest in them. But not worth the risk with Soju if she likes chewing on plants.

Thanks for the information. I didn't know that about aloe vera. I have that in the backyard in the far corner... I better make sure Soju doesn't go down that way. She usually goes the other side of the yard when she is outside. Soju is a bit odd. I found her chewing on lemongrass in the garden last time.
