barkada
Barkada is a Filipino word for a group of friends. It refers to the relationship or bond of the group to each other as friends. For me, you can call a group as "barkadahan" if it is more than 5 people comprising the group as really close friends. There is no exact word for barkadahan in English but the word brotherhood/sisterhood or the crew can be used. However, barkada is composed of different gender or one gender only. When you say barkada to a group of friends it evokes happiness. The tightness is there through thick or thin.
There is also another word that is used to describe barkada. This is tropa or troop in English. When you tell a person is your barkada or tropa, that person is close to your heart. So it goes, if a group of people is what you call tropa or barkada you are all bonded with deep friendship. You treat barkada as a family member.
