Hello dear steemers.

Today I bring you a collection of photographs of this year in different parts of Venezuela, all are oriented to butterflies and their cousins the moths.

I hope you enjoy them, as much as I have enjoyed taking them and editing them.

For those who do not know both (moths and butterflies) are called lepidoptera or some special cases called microlepidopteras and one of its most striking features is that moths usually feed on paper, wool, fabrics, skins, etc, have never taken leaves or old clothes from a closet and has some small holes as if something had taken as his lunch? Well it is likely that they have visited a nice moth to reduce the weight of their old things.

Butterflies usually feed on the nectar of flowers, so if you like butterflies, make sure your garden is flowered.

To differentiate them we can take the morphological or behavioral aspect.

For the morphological part, it is difficult to notice closed aspects for each one since there are so many species that these characteristics could vary, these characteristics are based on the majority.

  • Moths: They usually have grayish and brown colors, with points or stripes in a zigzag pattern as well as bigger and stronger wings. This happens because they mostly go out at night and serve as a method of camouflage and for the retention of body heat. It shows a natural adaptation (There are also day moths with bright colors on their wings).

  • Butterflies: Butterflies usually have wings with more delicate and uniform shapes, colors lived with fine antennae in the form of sticks.

From the point of view of behavior we can notice that:

  • Butterflies: They are diurnal and very vivid and when they are at rest (perched on a twig or flower) they usually keep their two wings together at the top of their backs and occasionally they are seen doing a flutter of wings, resting at night.

So if you find a butterfly at night sleeping take advantage of taking a picture nearby without waking it.

  • Moths: Mostly nocturnal insects or in some cases of sunrises or sunrises (characteristic of specific species), when it comes to resting time, moths are usually with extended wings camouflaged with their surroundings, unless they are somewhere very small for their large wings and it is possible that you see them at rest with their wings on their backs.

When it comes to reproduction, children only explain that butterflies lay eggs turn into caterpillars then pupa or pupa and emerge the great and beautiful butterfly.

But have you ever thought about how the butterflies make these eggs?

The butterfly or female and male moths are joined by their abdomen leaving both of them looking in a different direction, the reproductive organs of the butterflies are in the back of the abdomen.

Here we can see an example:

I know that ls butterflies have nothing to do with the dragonflies but I wanted to leave as an extra this post a photo of these elusive insects.

All the photographs are from my author with a lot of patience because photographing butterflies is not an easy task.

As many already know I love to promote the care of wildlife, because insects also have the right to be free, join the campaign is better pictures to crush.
