Yıldız Burunlu Köstebek
burnunun yapısıyla dikkat çeken bir köstebek türüdür. alışılmışın dışında şeylerle karşılaşmak biraz ilgi meselesi ve bunun için de alışılmadık canlıları araştırmak benim için oldukça zevkli. bu canlı da bunlardan bir tanesi, isminden de tahmin edilebileceği gibi burnunun yıldıza benzer bir yanı vardır. aslında yıldızımsı burun yapısı "eimer organı" adı verilen bir organdır. bu organ üzerinde yoğun miktarda sinir hücreleri bulunmaktadır. diğer birçok köstebekte de olduğu gibi bu türün de gözleri iyi görmez. bu açıdan eimer organı sayesinde etrafındaki nesnelere dokunarak çevresini algılar.
bu garip canlı kuzey amerika'da; doğu kanada ve kuzeydoğu birleşik devletleri'nde yaşamını sürdürmektedir. nemli ve alçak bölgelerde yaşar. ayrıca çok iyi bir yüzücü olan bu canlı nehirlerin ve akıntıların kenarlarında avlanabilir. diğer köstebek türlerinde de olduğu gibi bu tür de tüneller kazmayı hayatının önemli bir parçası olarak görür. kazdığı tüneller kış aylarında bile rahatça hareket edebilmesine ve bir o kadar da aktif olmasına katkı sağlar.
