When we were children, we tore nettles and chased each other. Worst of all was the one who was in shorts. Best was the fastest. The stalk of nettle we wrapped in paper, we were afraid to burn our hands.
It was fun.
But, nettles are not only a means for fun, it is medicinal herb, but, young shoots of nettle stewed in sour cream taste like mushrooms. Young shoots are added to soups, instead of sorrel, it is very tasty.
The medicinal properties of nettle are difficult to list, there are a lot of them. Nettle is used in medicine in fresh and dried form. Broths are made from it. Nettle juice is useful for asthmatics and people who suffer from diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Nettle juice removes toxins from the human body. The vitamin composition of the nettle simply goes off scale. It is an excellent source of chlorophyll. I remember how my grandmother made me drink nettle juice, it was very difficult to do at the beginning, but. then I got used to it and I even liked it.
But, there are contraindications, before starting the treatment with nettle, as with other herbs, it is better to consult your treating physician.
Nettle is used in other areas, it is part of shampoo, soap, cosmetic products. It perfectly cleanses the skin and hair.
In the old days, weaved fibers from nettles, cord fibers, cloths, bags were knitted from these fibers. They sewed clothes from these fabrics.
If you are a fisherman, nettle is the best refrigerator. If you make a nettle basket and put crayfish on it, or fish, and cover with nettle, then you have a better chance of catching a catch home in a fresh state.
As a child, I was engaged in collecting herbs. The most difficult thing was to dry the grass correctly. Special dryers nebylo. He spread out the newspapers and dried them in the shade. But, very often the grass hit mold and they had to be thrown away. In nettles a lot of juice and dry it without a special dryer is quite difficult. It is good that now it is not difficult to buy a dryer.
Collecting nettles is desirable at a distance from roads and cities, best of all in the forest.
