Himalayan water resources | Beauty and necessity.

Greetings Steemians!

Nature has bestowed us with plenty of resources which are essential for our existence. Himalayan region is full of such resources. Small waterfalls can be seen on almost every part of the Himalayan highlands.

These beautiful water resources are lifeline of dwellers of these mountains and perform many tasks. Local people quench their thirst from them as it is not possible for them to carry and store water from the rivers which are hundreds of meters down. As you can see in following pictures, which I took with my smartphone, locals there have made arrangements to collect water from these small waterfalls.

These small waterfalls make small channels and brooks and ultimately become part of mighty rivers like the Ganges, the yamuna, the sutlej, the Sindh etc.

Unfortunately, environment degradation has a bad effects on these valuable water resources. They are shrinking. Many such known waterfalls have been depleted. Life of people is becoming difficult there because of water scarcity. Future seems terrible for them but it won't be confined to them only. Ultimately, everyone will have to pay the price of our negligence.
