Execution with the help of bloody chess

The servants of God satisfied with hunting witches and heretics were subjected to mass extermination of all dissenters. Before the execution of the unfortunate brutally tortured. Fanatics didn't limit the flight of their own imagination. A striking example was the execution, which was often used by Pedro de Arbues de Epila, who was among the most fierce and ruthless inquisitors of Spain. Here are just a few facts that shed light on the dark pages of the Inquisition.

De Epila was a man of good education. He believed in God endlessly. This owner of an extraordinary mind and a developed Outlook was appreciated both among disciples and among God's Ministers and ordinary people. Passion de Epila were chess. In it he reached certain heights, which once again emphasizes excellent mental abilities. He often became an example to follow. De Epila was considered one of the smartest and most refined personalities of his time. At his appointment to the position of chief Inquisitor of the Northern Spanish region Aragon, a large number of the townsfolk happy. But subsequent events convinced that they were strongly mistaken.

Immediately after the appointment of de Epila the Spaniards learned the dark side of the Inquisitor, whose sadistic qualities could hardly be an example for others to follow. To him applies fully the immense cruelty, a pleasure that was received by the Inquisitor. He made every effort to prolong the suffering of the people for as long as possible.

His enemy, the Inquisitor considered heretics. His brain had long sought a way to connect pleasant and useful – the need to eliminate heretics, the necessity of effects in stage production and an unquenchable thirst for the blood of others with the desire to play chess to develop their own mind. De Epila found a way out. The Inquisitor decided to hold chess games alive people sentenced to death, who acted as figures. This idea impressed the monster because he enjoyed waiting for the death of his victims, forced to look at the death of the people standing next to them.

The undeniable fact remains that a great many innocent people, who were neither sorcerers nor heretics, were killed at the time. However, the Inquisitor was not interested. He needed living figures for the game, and he found them all the time. The chess game was played in a wide room, whose floor was lined in the form of a chessboard. In these bloody chess, as usual, there were dark and light shapes. For this purpose, the convicts were divided and changed into dark and light clothes.

Pair of monks made the moves, the Inquisitor at that time was situated in a comfortable chair and watched with enjoyment for passing before his eyes the party. A game like chess was carried out according to the same rules as playing in a regular chess. The monks took turns making moves. After one or the other figure turned out to be defeated, came up to her, and the executioner carried out the execution of the victim.

Executed in several ways. Whether it was a sword strike or a head cut off, in any case, the common in this procedure was the presence of just a huge amount of blood. Condemned it was forbidden to leave from the smashing blows and especially to run away. Poor, as usual figures for chess were obliged to remain motionless. The bodies of those executed off the floor that nobody cleaned until the end of the party. In this regard, the entire floor in the room at the end was covered with pools of blood, decapitated and bloodied bodies of the victims.

However, at the end of the game there were several untouched pieces on the Board. Perhaps they were lucky? No. For the rest of the people were prepared for is not an enviable fate. They were sentenced to be purified by fire. They were simply burned. Such chess games were arranged constantly, and therefore it becomes clear that in this way a significant number of people were executed.

It would seem that Church dignitaries were horrified after learning about such atrocities. By no means! The Church for several centuries praised in the truest sense of the merit of de Epila. He was recognized as a great Martyr, and a couple of centuries later Pontiff Alexander VII called him a righteous man. Moreover, even in 1867 Pius IX turned this monster and sadist into a Saint.

However, the villain suffered a well-deserved punishment and did not survive to old age. He was killed in 1485, right in the Church, which could not protect the villain from the angry crowd. Corpse de Epila was all permeated with sharp weapons. It was probably a sword.
