Where are all the bodies buried?

Working in the Deep

During the process of working beneath a road, workers had unexpectedly unearthed a number of remains that date back to when this village was a lot-less populated and designed differently. It seems that a village back then was built around the church and where there is a church, there is likely a graveyard and this one has a good sized one. But, the graveyard was even bigger a long time ago, as evidently the workers had found out.

Locals say the workers have already discovered many remains of the dead, which are into the double digits, and are saying they may be heading into a giant tomb, where they expect to find many more. I remember reading/viewing countless reports over my time, where workers had unearthed old WW2 bombs, or somehow ran into an old site filled with artefacts, but to find a tomb, would be quite a morbid discovery.

Locals are saying a professional archaeologist and a student carried out an assessment on the remains to date when they were buried, but it is likely from a time when the graveyard was reduced in size to make way for the roads and houses, as the village population grew. Not your average day at work if you are a person that works on the roads, returning everyday to possibly unearth a piece of forgotten history.

It makes you wonder what is beneath our feet, the history and mystery is all around us, just buried in time. So, on that note, thanks for taking the time to view this post, which has prompted my next post about Mudlarking, something very new to me, but so incredibly interesting. Stay tuned.
