Ufa is the capital of Bashkortostan

in #history6 years ago

The construction company in which I worked began the construction of a large facility in Ufa. They suggested to me to do the job of an economist at the construction site. I stayed in this city for forty months and it stayed in good memory. The city has many cultural sights and interesting history and I suggest you see it.
Ufa is the capital of Bashkortostan, the Republic of the Russian Federation. It spreads on the banks of the Belaya River and Ufa and Dyoma rivers, more precisely it is located at the place where the rivers Ufa and Dyoma flows into Belaya River.

Historical sources say that Ufa originated in the fifth century and has existed since then. On the territory of today's Ufa in the period from the 5th to the 15th century there were two settlements. One on the site of today's monument "Монумент Дружбы" and the other in the street of Pushkin.
In 1557, Bashkortostan joined the Russian empire. Shortly thereafter, the construction of the Ufa Kremlin began on the site of today's monument "Монумент Дружбы". In 1586 Ufa officially got the status of the city.

In 1957. at the 400th Anniversary of Bashkortostan's join to the Russian Empire, the construction of the monument "Монумент Дружбы" began. The monument was built on the foundations of the collapsed Orthodox Church (Church of Holy Trinity was demolished in 1956). It symbolizes the friendship between the Russian and the Bashkir people. Joining the Russian Empire was a decision by the Bashkir leaders. Did they join voluntarily or because they had to? It's a question for historians. I can claim that their common life is harmonious enough.
In addition to Russian and Bashkir, many Tatars live in Ufa. Those are the three dominant nations, the others are much less. Inter-ethnic relations are good. And everyone respects each other.

Another sights to be seen is the monument to Salawat Yulayev. He was the Bashkir leader during the uprising of Yemelyan Pugachev against empress Catherine II. Today, Salawat Yulayev is symbol of Ufa and the whole of Bashkortostan. From the place where these monuments are located you will have a fantastic view of the Belaya River and the bridge over it.

the Church of the Holy Mother of God

Orthodoxy and Islam are the dominant religions. The Russians are Orthodox, and Bashkirs and Tatars are mostly Muslims. The largest and most beautiful churches are the Church of the Holy Mother of God, the Church of Cyril and Methodius, and Church of the Most Holy Mother of God.

On the other side of the most beautiful mosque are Mosque "Lala-Tulip" and the Tukayev Mosque (the Old Mosque).

In addition to numerous churches and mosques that, with their appearance, beautify the image of the city of Ufa, they also have a synagogue. This is the third religious community.

I am a great fan of the theater, and in this city I have seen really many performances. I went to three drama theaters and in one opera and ballet theater.

In one drama theater, performances are in Tatar in the second in the Bashkir and in the third in Russian. Since the Russian is officially spoken language and everyone speaks it perfectly well, performances in the Bashkir and Tatar theater can be listened using headphones.
You must visit the park of Aksakova. The Park is named in honor of the Russian writer Sergei Aksakov, and within it is a small lake.

The "Rodina" cinema, the Philharmonic of Ufa and the National Library are important cultural institutions, and their buildings are built in different styles and have a place in the city's image.

Visiting Hippodrome "Akbuzat", circus arena, some museums will surely make your stay in Ufa more enojoyable. I will note that you need to visit the “Park pobede”. I also suggest walking around Lenin's street. It leads to the hill above the river Belaya. At the end of the street there is a beautiful park and there are buildings of numerous ministries among which National Bank of Bashkortostan. Visiting this multiethnic city will allow you to get to know these Turkish nations, but the Russian nation.

The architecture is beautiful! I also love that many of the buildings use color.
