Kisah Jalaluddin, Jadi Petani Timun Suri Demi Baju Lebaran Keluarga (Billingual)

Suara serunai tanda imsak terdengar cukup keras. Selang beberapa menit kemudian suara azan berkumandang. Jalaluddin (50) memilih salat di masjid sementara istri dan tiga anaknya tetap di rumah.

The sound of the imsak signals sounded loud enough. A few minutes later the call to prayer sounded. Jalaluddin (50) chose salat at the mosque while his wife and three children remain at home.

Usai menunaikan ibadah salat subuh, kemudian mereka bergegas menggantikan pakaian lalu bersiap-siap untuk beranjak ke kebun. Jalaluddin membawa sebilah parang sementara sang istri menggendong anak bungsu mereka.

Hanya bermodalkan cahaya bulan dan senter, mereka mulai memetik timun suri yang sudah panen. Jalaluddin merupakan salah seorang petani musiman. Di atas lahan seluas lapangan futsal, ia menanam bibit timun suri sejak jauh hari dua bulan sebelum Ramadhan.

Di atas lahan miliknya Jalaluddin menanam 300 biji timun suri. Per hari ia berhasil memetik sebayak 50 hingga 60 buah timun yang sudah mekar (terkelupas) dengan ragam jenis ukuran. Hasil panennya itu kemudian dijual ke muge atau agen dan juga dijual sendiri dipinggir jalan dekat kebunnya.

On his land Jalaluddin planted 300 cucumber seeds. Per day he managed to pluck sebayak 50 to 60 cucumber fruit that has bloomed (chipped) with a variety of sizes. The harvest is then sold to muge or agent and also sold alone on the side of the road near his garden.

Jalaluddin mengatakan, proses penjualannya sendiri tergantung pada cuaca. Jika kondisi hujan maka agen tidak akan mengambil lantaran timun kurang laku di pasaran. Namun sebaliknya, jika cuaca cerah peminat lebih rame dan mereka (Agen/pemborong) sering datang mengambil timun di lahannya.

Jalaluddin said the sales process itself depends on the weather. If the condition of rain then the agent will not take because cucumbers are less salable in the market. On the contrary, if the sunny weather is more crowded and they (the contractor) often come pick up cucumbers on the farm.

Masalah harga juga bergantung pada cuaca, kalau kondisi cerah harga pasaran timun dijual ke Agen seharga 10 ribu. Sementaran harga timun jika kita jual enceran bervariasi tergantung ukuran kisaran Rp 10 ribu hingga Rp 20 ribu perbuahnya.

Timun suri hanya ditanam saat bulan ramadhan, selain menjadi petani musiman. Pekerjaan lain Jalaluddin adalah seorang pekerja serabutan. Bahkan dirinya kerap menjadi buruh bangunan.

“Kenapa saya hanya menanam ini saat bulan puasa saja, karena ini sudah menjadi ciri khas dan tradisi orang Aceh. jika ditanam setelah lebaran peminat tidak sebanyak seperti bulan ramadan. Kalau bulan puasa ini bisa dikatakan hampir 90 persen orang Aceh berbuka pakai timun suri,” ujar Jalaluddin.

If this fasting month can be said almost 90 percent of Aceh people breaking using cucumber surya, "said Jalaluddin.

Pekerjaan Jalaluddin tak selamanya berlangsung baik. Ia pernah mengalami masa-masa sulit dan menanggung risiko kerugian besar. Pernah suatu hari timunnya tidak ada satu pun agen yang datang membeli. Selain itu, Jalaluddin juga pernah terpaksa harus berbagi hasil panen dengan hama tikus.

Jalaluddin's work does not always last well. He has had a tough time and hears the risk of big losses. Once a cucumber day no one agent came to buy. In addition, Jalaluddin has also been forced to share crops with rat pests.

“Itulah risiko kita, semua pekerjaan tidak ada yang mulus-mulus aja. Rezeki sudah diatur sama Allah. Tetapi tahun ini alhamdulillah hama berkurang dan hasil panen tiap harinya ada agen yang membeli,” ujarnya.

"That's our risk, all the work is not a smooth one aja. Sustenance is arranged with God. But this year alhamdulillah pests are reduced and the harvest every day there are agents who buy, "he said.

Bagi Jalaluddin melakoni pekerjaannya itu hanya semata-mata demi keluarga tercinta. Tidak hanya untuk biaya hidup sehari-hari, melainkan juga untuk bekal lebaran nanti. Seperti membeli baju lebaran keluarga mulai dari istri hingga anak serta perlengkapan kebutuhan rumah lainnya.

“Semua ini saya lakukan untuk keluarga. Karena ada istilah orang Aceh, kerja satu tahun hanya demi untuk satu hari itulah hari lebaran. Saya ingin membahagiakan istri dan anak-anak dimana mereka bisa memakai baju baru di hari yang fitrah nanti,” ujar Jalaluddin.
