Samsun

The first communities living in Samsun are Kashka's. Kashka community began to live in Samsun in 5000 BC. In 3500 BC, Samsun was ruled by the Hittites.

In 546 BC the Persians conquered Samsun. After Alexander the Great defeated the Persians, Samsun began to be ruled by the Macedonians. In the following years, Samsun was conquered by the kingdom of Ponus. But after a short period of time, Samsun conquered by the Roman Empire. After the collapse of the Byzantine Empire, the Genoese began to rule Samsun.

But in those years, Turks began to settle in Samsun and its surroundings. And Samsun was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in later years. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Samsun has been a city of the Republic of Turkey.
