Tokat

According to researches, the first time Togayıt community lived in Tokat. Then Tokat was conquered by the Hittites. And Hittites ruled Tokat for a long time.

After the collapse of the Hittite state, Tokat was conquered many times by different states. The states that conquered Tokat are the Assyrian, Hurrian, Kimmer, Persian, Macedonia, Cappadocian and Pontus states respectively.

In 65 BC, Tokat was conquered by the Roman Empire. Arabs tried to conquer Tokat castle many times. But the Byzantine Empire has managed to protect the Tokat castle.

In 1071, Tokat was conquered by the Turks. Finally, the Ottoman Empire conquered Tokat. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Tokat has been a city of the Republic of Turkey
