n Africa there are a number of Temples and places of worship, some modern some ancient. Many Hindu temples are found all over Africa, for instance in South Africa is the Melrose Temple that is consecrated 125 years ago, and was founded by the Tamil immigrants to South Africa. It is dedicated to the Lord Muruga and his family.

St Anthony was the first Christian Monk. He gave all his wealth away and lived in the desert, like a hermit. In 313 he moved to a cave, where the Monastery is now situated.
The Great Mosque of Djenna in Malie is considered the greatest creation of Shelien architecture. It is entirely built of mud and is the largest mud building in the world.

In Egypt, there was a thriving community of over 100,00 Jews. There was a mass exodus in 1948 but the house of Worship remains. It was built in the 9th century by a Christian Priest. The site is believed to be where Pharoah's daughter found baby Moses.
