The Algerian Independence Day!

in #history5 years ago

If you know nothing about Algeria, the most important thing there is to know is the war that Algeria had with France. The French colony attacked Algeria over a "stupid" accident more known as the fan accident, I want get into details because there is a lot of theories and informations, too hard to fit all of it in one post.

But more importantly i'm not going to talk about the algerian war but the Algerian Independence, after 100 years of being under the French colony's control, the algerians had enough of that unfair turn of events and decided to take back control of the country.

This is not really an Independence day, this is a celebration for the beging of the revolution. The first bullet that fired , exactly on 1st November 1954 marking the beginning of the end of the French colony. The war ended few years later, in July 1962.

I wanted to avoid posting something like this but how when over 14 million martyr died saving this country and the people they loved ? Talk to me about patriotism and I'll tell you what patriotism is.

Today Algeria is living as a free country, because they took back what was once theirs. Just like Gamal Abdel Nasser, ex-president of Egypt said "What was taken by force, can only be restored by force."

Thanks Raouf, both timely and succinct. I'd like it twice if I could.

Thank you brother!

It is a very good post indeed.I knew about the war with the France but I also know that not so many people know about it.Algeria was in fact a french colony and that is mostly what people know about it.

That's true, I'm glad you liked it and thank you for reading!
