  • Rosa Luxemburg, leading member of the USPD, which was founded in 1917 as the left-wing split-off of the SPD, is being released from political "protective custody".

  • The Kriegsversorgungsamt announces that the prescribed maximum prices for shoes must now be stamped on the sole or shaft in order to counteract the excessive war. Men's boots can then cost 48 marks, women's boots 44 marks and women's shoes at most 38 marks.

  • The Christian-Social Association of German MEPs in the Austrian House of Representatives believes that after the end of the war, all German -born areas should be united to form a German-Austrian state.
