Meet Cathey Williams, the first black African woman to enlist in the US Army.

Cathay Williams as indicated by old history, was the first known female African American Soldier. She was the first dark lady to ever enroll in the United States Army and archived for her service in the U.S. Armed force before ladies were authoritatively permitted to join the armed force. Cathay Williams was born in September of 1844 in Independence, Missouri. Cathay filled in as a house maid on a close-by estate on the edges of Jefferson City, that was the much that was referred to about her initial days as a child until the point that she selected in the US Army.

In 1876, her story was published at all dailies across the country and her story turned into an exceptionally mainstream one. She worked as a cook in the wake of leaving the armed force and did numerous others employments also.
