BTC - Crime doesn't pay, but it almost did...steemCreated with Sketch.

We have all heard that crime doesn't pay, and that was true yet again

In news out of Ireland, a drug dealer almost made quite a hall in bitcoin.

According to the report, the man had been growing and selling marijuana for years, using some of those proceeds to buy bitcoin between 2011 and 2012.

As you know, bitcoin was much cheaper back then.

As the price increased, his bitcoin he had purchased back then with his drug money had grown to be worth over $60 million at current prices.

This was all well and good except for a couple things...

One, he got arrested for drug possession in 2017 and sentenced to 5 years in prison, though his nest egg of bitcoin was still safe and waiting for him.

However, while he was in prison his landlord cleaned out his place and took all this belongings to the dump.

In doing so, he also took the fishing rod case that just so happened to house the drug dealers private bitcoin keys.

Which of course no one but him had any idea were in there.

So, the the fishing rod (and keys) were taken to the dump where they have since been destroyed and our friend the drug dealer remains in prison without the possibility of recouping his $60 million dollar fortune he thought he would have waiting for him on the outside...

Sheesh!

Crime doesn't pay!

Stay informed my friends.

He could have easily laundered that money directly to his bank account if he was willing to pay the 15% capital gains tax. That's just greedy.

Oh my days!! I often also think of the people buying weed ect with bitcoins on that silk road thingy, how fucking stupid do they feel 😝 Thanks for the funny news

That’s a true HODL’er! 😏

Ouch. You would think he would contact someone he trusted to go grab his keys and store them safely till he got out.
